Pertronix HEI's

Any one out there familiar with the pertronix hei's. I've noticed my car seems to run inconsistently at engine speeds over 4000-5000 rpm. I also noticed the tach jumping slightly as the throttle is opened and closed at high rpm's. Does any one haven first hand knowledge of performance increases with these, or the modual/coil upgrade. My dist is 18 yrs old and will be rebuilt soon.

I run their "tune up" kit in my Distributor on my Z28..

it's an old styel HEI vac advance and what not, so i'm not sure if it's the same one you'll use.

As of now i've no complaints, came with jsut bout everything that is a distributor, all new electronics, new wieghts, bushings, and springs.

I'd use it again as of now. but i haven't walloped on it yet

thanks for the info. I don't think pertronix makes a computer controlled hei for an 84 but i'll call them on tuesday. I've been looking at the DUI setup, its more expensive, of course does anybody have experience with this one?

I have heard bad things about Pertronix from a guy that installed their upgrade kit and said it was junk, but people have bad experiences with things once and hate them forever. he is a reliable source tho so i dunno.
