My review of the Ram Air 1 Hood from ASCD

I tried moving the fenders around and hood mounts and nothing worked, it still wasnt even close.

and then the hood spring mounts on the wrong side of the hood.

so i am sending it back, to much trouble for all the money paid.

my formula hood fits on fine.

Sorry to hear that. Mine took some adjusting but fits pretty well. I didn't bother with that spring. No real need.

I think the build quality on thirdgens is so terrible and inconsistent it's near impossible to make anything for these cars that will fit every car. It's unbelievable reading these boards and seeing how many times that happens.

yeah thats true, however, from that pic does it look like they put the spring hole on the wrong side or am i just making things up?

i really wanted this hood but now i dont know, its looks like it needs alot of work to fit on the car.

Like I said I did't even bother with the spring. Matter of fact I don't think mine even had a bolt hole for it. But mine was one of the earliest ones. Maybe it was something they added.

But without it my hood still unlocks. Its just doesn't pop up.

you might be suffering from to many projects syndrome. Seems like you have done allot of bolt on lately and its gets frustrating when a simple bolt on becomes a major PITA. I agree with Karps leave the spring off, work it on there like all of the other parts you have recently installed and enjoy. This hood would look too sweet on your black Formula.

Post some pixs when you have it installed and looking good

Harwood is about the only company that makes a decent fiberglass hood. All the others that I have seen on thirdgens do not line up very well at all, my friend has one his Z28 it its off in several places, we dicked around with it for a long time trying to get it right but no dice! Firebirds are the worst, they never level out properly around the headlights. Anyway the turbo buldge hood rules, why would you ever change it!

I disagree with the Harwood comment. I've seen enough of them to know they aren't much better. And really my bodyman was blown away but the ASCD hood. He loved the quality and fit.

Every Harwood I have seen fit nice, though they have all been cowl hoods not the ram air line.
