Looks like theyll have your solution too...Lon Salgren is the owner. He posts frequently here as lonsal. He is a sponsor of the board and his TDS banner and link are at the top of the page. His customer service and parts are great http://www.thirdgen.org/techbb2/show...hreadid=202358 . Hes got remanufactured items of what you need, too. You can PM him for any question you have and he can assist you in choosing a piece. Good luck.

Well, you could check eBay and take a chance on getting exactly what you need, or you could do the smart thing and scroll up to the top of this page... Click on Top Down Solutions or email Lon with your situation. Not only is he a TGO sponsor, he's a stand-up guy with ALL the answers concerning that pull down unit.
Do yourself a favor and contact Lon first. If he can't help you (inconceivable), then have your look on eBay.

This is one of them parts that no mater what, you gonna hafta bend over for it. Best deal is get good at changing it and find a used car dealer close to a parking lot where you can swap them out.
Dude, I had the same prob. I bought about 4 different ones from junk yards that were burnt out also. Pissed me off dude. So, I just lowered the unit and took my drill. Drilled some holes then set it into place perminitley. Yea, its rigged. But, its better than having rain drip into your car.
I have a used one for sale $60bucks (US funds) shipping included(within US and canada only),,,it works good I tested it. Let me know if you want it....

FYI, I'm sure Layne was referring to GM 16604066 which is the complete hatch pull-down unit for the 1988-91 F-Bodies. According to GMPartsDirect the GM list price is $488.09, their price is $278.21. Of course I sell re-built and re-manufactured ones for much less than that. GM 16608837 is JUST the new-style motor and motor housing. There are a dozen other parts to the unit (gear nut, reversing switch, striker-sensing switch and relay to mention just a few). All are available through my web site. I've already sold and shipped the parts to Layne that he was missing so he can repair his hatch pull-down unit.
Thanks,
Lon Salgren
