it has been assigned a part number.... that is a good thing. As many of us have been saying for over a year now... good things come to those who wait... just a bit longer boys.
Wow! I might actually have to start finding some money to buy the cover now. Seems like they're almost there lol! Nah, I'm ready & waiting for it. Didn't realize its been about a year wait already!
I talked to someone there last week, they said to call back at the end of March, that they hope to be released for April (end of). Lets hope things go smoothly there and they get a chance to hit the covers.
I figure that if some of us keep calling and asking, they will stay on track. At least they will know we are still interested. I mean come on, its almost spring!
i havent replied yet to this thread i beleieve i would also be in the market for one once they are out...but whats the projected $ ?

Ours should be similar in price. He didn't know an exact price because there is no number yet of how many will be made, but common sense tells me that the first run would probably cost slightly higher than what the others are listed. That is an assumption so don't take it for gospel. I'm certain that it would NOT be more than $200 each to have them made.
That's as current as I know. We can always hope they'll knock that back some since we have over 3 times as many people now that say they'll buy it.
Well since we haven't paid any money in I'm guessing they'll treat it just like regular orders when it comes out where you contact them, pay, then they ship. Hopefully since we have a massive list together it'll work like a similair group purchase.
As you can see it hasn't been updated in awhile. So don't get in a huge hurry over them. Seems like new target is end of April... course that's like a 6 month buffer if it's anything like earlier schedules.

Does anyone know if TA /// ever /// makes this girdle if it will come with the gasket, if not can we get the gasket at any parts store. For the price I would think it would come with gasket.
Has been many years since I bought one of their girdles for my '87's 10 bolt and can't remeber if it came with the gasket ???
What I do remember was they sent the wrong attaching hardware ( too short) and since I already had it apart before I
noticed I had to go to the hardware store. TA was willing to send the correct hardware to me just that I had the rearend apart and did not want to wait.
Stud kit for the bearing caps ; I remember I did not do this on my 87. Honestly how can the studs be that much stronger than the factory bolts ????? Just harder material or what ?
Lastly has anyone here tried to weld the axle tubes on a 9 bolt or even a 10 bolt ? I am being told the center section is a different material than the tubes and it could require a special type of welder ????
Thanks.........

Because of how TA has handled this I'm going to get my support cover for my 12 Bolt from Summit or Jegs. They have their own brand which is just as good. TA really dropped the ball on this one. I personally won't patronize them until I've seen that they made good on this to you guys and didn't try to jack the price up on it.
I'm sorry about how long they've dragged their feet on this. I really thought they were a reputable outfit that was sincere on getting this done for us. I hope they come thru for you guys.
It's not necessary to update the list. Whether it's 200 or 300 people isn't going to make them get it done faster. It's just not a priority to them. Once it's available you can just order direct from them. I was never able to get a vendor lined up to handle this. Maybe you guys can negotiate a gp thru them direct for a discount. As a group you'd have as much or more buying power than a vendor. There not gonna buy this many at a time anyways. With the number of you who want one... there's no reason you should get stuck with a retail price when TByrne or Summit can call and order 5 and get it way cheaper than you anyways. If they won't do a direct GP...call some vendors who offer their parts and see if one will. Go to LS1.com or LS1tech.com and look at thier list of vendors. Alot of them love doing GP's.
Maybe if you guys who want one would all pick a day to call Dave Sommerville @ TA and actually do it; that might give them some incentive. I know if my phone was ringing off the hook from 125-150 people calling in place of people calling for parts that I do have...about something I can't make money off yet cause I don't have it done...I'd make it a priority.
Just keep hounding them. Send some emails to them also. It's would be the same PITA for them as spam and telemarketers are to you guys.
I think I'll call Dave and let him know how instead of spending maybe $200 for a cover and a stud kit like I wanted....I got tired of waiting and being blown off so I spent $2000 with TByrne/Strange. Money talks....bullsh!t walks.

With your setup 383/t56 I wouldn't think twice 12 bolt ALL the way. TA has really pissed me off, just tell me the the truth. If they weren't interested say so up front and don't waste our time (some more than others) You were straight up with them why can't they be with us ?
Please post any and all numbers to call, also ther email address- I'm sure there are plenty of us who will call, and or email - I for one will be on the phone Monday morn. for my first of many calls...Thanks for all of the great work here, Ed.
Just emailed them which is about the 10th time so far, not one reply. Have called three times and they knew very little about the girdle's progress however others in this thread have gotten more info out of them. They haven't even updated the website on the girdle since 7/22/04, do we take that to mean they haven't done a thing to it since then ?????
Everyone try to call this week, this situation is BS pure and simple, going on well over a year.
TA Performance ... 480-922-6807 ... email .... TAPerf@aol.com
Reference..... TA 1802 WHEN TALKING TO THEM, THIS IS THE PART NUMBER THEY HAVE ASSIGNED OUR COVER.
I called Tuesday same story...two months out except I asked him you said that for the last two months. Something about they haven't gotten the mold back yet, I think from the tone of his voice they are just putting us off.................
REST OF YOU CALL AND CALL AND CALL AGAIN..............
Same deal on the gas prices call your senators and congressman.............
i've been watchin this thread since it started... another 2-3 months! just keep pushing it back. I'm not too worried, still haven't got the 406 in. I want the cover before I put the M/T drag radials on. It's gonna be the only chance that rear has, lol
4-6 weeks before they have the first prototype in hand, or 4-6 weeks until they start filling the massive amounts of orders they will receive from the patient people here?
I will give them a call! I think they need to know that there is a market for them! look at all the turbo T/A's , and everyone here. now if summit would carry them then they would sell. there are a lot of 9bolt owners that don't come here but flip through the summit or jegs.
I will buy one when they come out. I really like the 9bolt rear. it is alot stronger than the 10 bolt rears I have had.
They've been contacted several times by various members. I would bet they really don't care how fast the covers get done. I mean their only other competition is Diff Solutions which is also working on a girdle.
I'd bet they plan on machining the lightning girdles first anyways. Like stated earlier if they sell in a Mail order, so if I were them I would machine the ford girdles first because those are designed for lightnings and other Ford trucks. While our girdles are just for one f-body car type and some aussie cars.
I'd probably say another 4 to 6 months if they get it done at all.
My car is still up on jack stands so I have awhile till I need to worry about getting a new cover for my ring and pinion upgrade.
Think I'll send them an email.

Diff Solutions? Tell me more, this snuck in on me. Are they near production or still thinking about it? The first one out with a quality product will get most of the the business. A little of good ol american competition is good for all of us.
Last time I knew anything of an update Miles was just getting around to cutting the cover out of the solid block. It's a slow project too since he does have a business to run. www.9bolt.com They carry lots of used and new products, but they'll cost you a little bit.
Just one more hat in the ring to buy one when they become available. Was going another route, but since I haven't heard from that person in nearly 2 months I guess they aren't interested in building me a rear (dig, dig) so I'll rebuild the 9 bolt I have laying around.
James,
We are going to machine the first sample castings today or tomorrow. Let everyone know. The first few guys to put in there orders can have these. We will order enough castings to cover everyone who would like one. The price on all covers are going to be going up. But we will keep this cover at the old price to give all the folks that have been waiting for so long a chance to get one.
Sorry for the extended wait, but we seem to be at the finish line. To place an order you will have to call TA by phone, no e-mail.

I called them to place a direct order and they took it like they were all over it...
Can you please update the list? They may look at the list to see who has been waiting for them. I have been watching the thread for a while but only replied to it the other day so I could get the emails. I know the price too but I dont want to screw us by posting it without their consent. Call, it seems really fair if you have been waiting for it for a while.
I emailed them and here is thier response. I told them alone in my group of people who want them is about 200 people. So I called and order 150 of them.
We will be setting up to machining the first few covers starting at the end of today. We will the order enough castings to cover everyone who would like one. The first orders can have the first ones. To place the order folks will have to call TA Perf. no e-mail orders, as we spend very little time on the net. Sorry for the wait
