By the time this is made i'd have to say i'll be on the "definites" list,
I'll second the need to get someone to produce gears for it at a reasonable price, not so much "many ratios, just a 3.2x 3.4x 3.7x and 4.1x , that would cover just about anyone looking for the capability of this axle, the downfall is we'd probably not have a chance at the possibility of getting Eaton or Auburn to produce a replacement carrier for them
I'd really like to see a TrueTrac diff offered for the 9bolt.
However.....
Dana makes a diff carrier called a HydraTrak for this rear but I'm told it uses a different spline axle. It's a possibility that all the other dimensions are the same. If that's the case, one could use it if going with custom aftermarket axles like moser's if you matched up the spline pattern.

I would be interested in finding more about this, as I have a spare 9-bolt that I could order axles for, etc. and then just swap the two out. Anybody?
Well, if you go to the link: http://www.spiceraxle.com.au/products.htm#srd
You'll see the 9bolt listed as the M78 Beam axle. You'll see on the bottom part the 2 different types of SRD's the cone (which is what ours is) and the Hydratrak. I emailed them about it and they explained that the axle shafts were different for the cone style and the hydratrak. Maybe you could convince them to sell you a hydratrak to try or you may find out what vehicles it was used in over there and find a salvage yard over there that will ship you one.
If you can get one, you'll need to take the specs of your axles and have a new set made that will mate up to the hydratrak. I'd have a set of hi-strength alloy ones like made by Moser.
ALSO: note the available gear ratios for the M78. They are the same ones offered my Miles @ 9bolt.com
Somehow he has arranged to buy them and have them imported here. That's why he can get different ratio's besides the now US made 3.70 ratio that everyone else here sells or advertises as a 3.73.

Draino:- Have you been in contact with Miles at 9bolt.com recently? If you have then I think I'll get you to 'forward' an email to him for me, as whenever I've tried in the past he has never responded. Is he still running it as a business? Because, it seems strange that he would ignore someone who is wanting to hand him over $700 for parts. I really would like to see him being more serious about providing parts, at a profit let's not forget, to the many owners of 9-bolt rear ended cars. It would be great to get new/rebuild diffs and new gears etc from someone else if he won't do it.
If you're speaking to him let him know that if he didn't respond as I'm in the UK that I can order from him and get it shipped to a friends within the USA if that is easier for him.
I have no affiliation with Miles and like many of you, have had little to no luck in getting response from him.
Look in my 9bolt info post on the FAQ board for other vendors including ratech which may be of help to you.
Alright im tired of kicking this idea around. I've already blown through my yearly summer car budget by a long shot but screw it, I want one so you can put my name down for sure.
Thanks to you guys too for putting your own time into this!
I called and talked to T/A performance yesterday. They are WAY behind on their production. Our cover should be ready buy the middle/end of August. Sooner if things go well. They are so swamped with orders for the covers they allready make that they are running 6 days a week-10 hours a day. They assured me it is going to happen though so everyone sit tight.-Mike
Three more months after about 6 weeks ago he told us it would be about two months,...I can't stand it when people don't try to keep their word and guys being 3-4 months off on your estimate is not even close to an honest effort.
I sincerely doubt ANYTHING has been done for us. IF I HAD AN ALTERNATE, HE would not get my money.

A little negative are we? These are to be expected in a situation like this. If I owned TA Performance I sure in the hell wouldn't take people off my already overburdened and succesful business to R&D and make a cover that, could be a 1 run deal. They are the only ones that have helped us so far with a cover so I am more than happy to wait...Hell, I the first person after drain98 to sign up I want one so bad. But, delays are to be expected. Nothing personal to you or anyone else, but this thread has stayed very positive so far...so lets all try to keep it a positive and an informationaly viable thread.
Well , I'm number 12, and I want one just as bad as anyone but I would rather wait for TA Performance to R&D than wait for others who would not respond to our needs. Dave isn't going to rush it through just to make a sale and you have to respect that. But without TA's effort there would be no hope!!! Keep the faith, it is going to happen.
Positive , OK, how's this. This time next year we still won't have a cover. This is on such a back burner it isn't even on the stove anymore.
I called them twice and each time they were like "huh" whatcha talking about.....If they were in the process of R & D everyone
would of known, this isn't a large company.
I am afraid we are being strung along, I hope I am wrong.

As a manager in a small company, I can say that I don't know every last project that we are working on.
They only have so many resources to utlize. They do have certain priorities and commitments that they may have to make and it sounds like they are maxed out on their production capacity. I am just happy that they are looking into it at all... lets face it, this cover does not have a large market.
Considering that there are no good alternatives what else can we do but wait?
no offense Jetmeck but why don't you contact Miles at 9bolt.com?
You'll be waiting alot longer and getting excuses/delays for years like I did!
TA is a reputable company and I see no reason why they won't get this done. Besides, advertising in GM High Tech is on the table so to speak.....so we've got a very high motivator for us!
They're not gonna cut into their bread & butter in their peak sales season to do a custom order which requires so much resources for limited gain...no sensible and successful business owner would. Remember, in the automotive industry....life does not revolve around thirdgens! We are lucky that they're even willing to do this.

No offense to you Drain, I applaud your efforts on this.
TA knew what time of the year it was when they promised us about two months, I am sure we can all agree their peak season is SUMMER TIME.
This cover will be used on the new GTO with little to NO other mods on it, not only will TA recoup all their R&D on us but will make a tidy profit as well and then have a marketable product for
what should be a growing market in the new GTO.
He shouldn't have promised this, he should have said I will eventually got around to it. This would have been a bit more accurate.
I too thought the GTO was getting an IRS version of the 9bolt....but after seeing a pic of one, it seems to be a different rear. I don't see any way cover could be changed to work on it. I was told the rear was one of Holden's designs not Dana.
Put me on the list for a definate cover and stud kit.

Nothing yet. They're still waiting to fill backorders and another cnc machine so they can finish this. Says it should be around the end of summer before they have a chance to get working on this again.
Just an update on the cover. I called TA last week and they said by Sept it should be available! And Dave sent a pix of the pattern that the foundry is working with so they are really making progress! Patience-----------
