I hope so also. Far as I care they can take till Spring or Summer if it takes that long. I've had my new set of 3.73s for the 9 bolt since 7-03 so I can wait a little longer before I install them.

Ditto, I have had 3.27 ready to go in my car and now it is sounding pretty bad when taking tight turns in parking lots and sharp corners.
Come on T/A you have some people waiting to purchase!!

If anyone is needing a stock cover for what ever reason I have a good one. $10 shipped. I also have a LH axle seal. GM #10033593. $10 shipped for it to! Just shoot me an email for arrangements.
Chris
It has already been said, the covers should be ready in the new year. January-ish if all goes well. Nothing ever goes as planned perfectly, so don't be disappointed if it's a little later. But there will be covers coming. We all have to be patient.
Originally posted by Jetmeck 4 unanswered emails in the last four months, Do you guys truly believe TAPerformance will come through for us ?????
Yes I do, particularly when they took the trouble to include details of it on their website, as detailed earlier in this thread.
Did you try calling them perhaps?
At the end of the day, people have been 'waiting on this product' for what - over 15years now!!! I'm sure that waiting till February 2005 won't send them all off in a huff to buy 12bolt rear ends or whatever!

Been on the website for months now, no progress.
Called them twice, no one seems to know nothing much about it,
it's like a big secret or something.
People have been waiting for 15 years, It might be another 15.
Here is the deal, there is about 80 people signed up for one right now. That is a lot of JACK. Probably 80 more will jump out of the wood work once they are available.
To the tune of about $12,000 ( for 80 ) assuming they sell for about $ 150.00 and most will get the stud kit too. More Jack.
I have two on my vehicles right now for 10 bolt application and every time I call I get little to no help and absolutely no answer to any email.
Some guys on this board did all the leg work for them and even
donated and paid for shipping to get a rearend to them. All this effort is greatly appreciated.
Considering all the above and the fact they will make a pile of jack up front, and yes I know not all of the 12,000 is profit, and have a marketable product for which he will make money down the road with......
I do not think it is much to ask for some small amount of progress and information to go along with it.
TA $12000 is not a lot of money, they will need to make more than that to break even. They will have at least $25000 in tooling charges. Each cover will cost $50 to pour in 100 piece quantites and then they still need to be machined. This is a low profit part so I am not suprised if it takes longer than they have stated.
nvm the list on the first page should be changed to the most recent. but you say if 80 people buy it would be 12k, IF everyone on the list bought one it would be about 18k so thats a little closer plus everyone who's not joined on this web board ect.

As long as they take their time and make a nice product I'm happy. I just don't like companies that rush things to the market by taking shortcuts *cough* Microsoft *cough*. It'll come eventually and I'm sure it will be purtty and strong.

If you are correct on the tooling charges we may NEVER see this product.........
I am about ready to build my own and say the heck with it.
miles is making his out of a solid chunk and having it all cut out (not to mention his is much better desighned and besides the benifits of machining his from scrach it has a much better rib desighn) there is good reason why is is not done plus he is very very buisy
the other one is just the cast cover with some reinforcment added to the sides and across the center. to pour and make something like that is very cheap. not having it done by now is pretty sad (about all the machine work on that is cleaning up the surface to diff housing and drilling out all the holes and tapping the preload holes) it looks like the cheapo summit 7.5 cover.

I updated the list. Also I removed my name from the list. I'm getting out of thirdgen's and will be selling all of my stuff soon. I'm turning this over to mikegraycar and if he wants to start a new thread and continue the list (or anyone else for that matter!) please do so, but my time and lack of interest in this matter prevents me from continuing with it.
Honestly, I'm sure TA will be offering the cover within the next few months. It always takes longer to get a product out than you'd expect (just ask Steve Spohn). Aside from making something new...you've got a business to run and current products and orders to tend to. Have faith people. TA didn't make it this far by making empty promises!
Also...I'd assume they'd run off a couple hundred of these covers initially to cover all you guy's. The maybe's and the people not on here and not web based hobbyists who'd want one also. Not to mention what they'll want to keep on stock and vendors. Good luck guys (and gals)! And thanks for your support on this!
I'd like to take the opportunity here to thank you for the 8 years of fellowship thirdgen.org has given me with this hobby I've had with thirdgens. Most of you guys have been excellent to deal with and I've learned alot about cars in general. I appreciate the great people I've had the experience to do business with here and to this point have never been ripped off or cheated by anyone while selling parts.
I will be selling my stash of parts which is extensive as you can tell by my sig and that's not including everything. I'll post info about it properly in the classifieds for anyone who's interested.
Thanks again folks! Goodbye.

sorry to see ya go man, thanks for getting us this far with the diff cover, hopefully itll be a sucess. well, look forward to hearin from ya in the future. take it easy.
ALLRIGHT ! ! Spoke to Mike at T/A Perf. today. He was, as he was talking to me, holding castings for our covers in his hands. The only thing left to be done is to wip up the fixtures to hold the castings and write the program for the CNC mills. Mike is very sorry this has taken so long. He has had issues with keeping machinists, Scottsdale being a hotbed of the aerospace industry. He informed me that tommorow he would be having a meeting with all the employees, the purpose of which is to push the 9 bolt cover and the cover for the Ford (oops, ford) Lightning into production as soon as possible. I pressed him for a timeline and he didn't seem to want to commit to an exact date. However, I mentioned that alot of the members here would like to have the cover in their hands when spring hit. To this he told me "I am almost certain they will be finished long before spring time" So there you have it. As I said before, Sit tight. They are too heavily invested in this to drop out now. It will just be a matter of time, hopefully a short period of time. In the meantime you can visit their website at taperformance.com to see how far they have come.
Actual castings now.....THAT'S progress. I'm looking forward to seeing a finished product in our near future. Now if I could just find time to get my tranny put back together.......
Wow this is good news hard to believe that this has been going on for over a year. It would be fantastic to have one setup before I go back to the track in April :hail: :hail:
