Umm other than intake or exhaust? How about underdrive pullys. Are we talking bolt ons? How about I high flow cat (Its exhaust but not flomaster) You could get it to run cooler with low temp fan switches and thermostat, that will help power.

He means change the gear ratio in the rear end (back axle) to a numericaly higher ratio. Doing such reduces your overall top speed but can better place the vehicle in the engine powerband in the context of a quarter mile track and therefore reduce track ETs. Yes, manual or auto..it's the same. The optimal gear ratio selection will depend on the projected ETs, traction needs, and other factors.

buy some used parts. a custom intake could be made utilizing a better filter like K&N for more airflow for very cheap. used sbc headers for our cars can be found for very cheap so long as they are shorties they can be made to bolt up and a flowmaster is a good muffler that's inexpensive. those three things combined will really help your motor breath.

I agree on getting the exhaust done or the rear-end done (although the rear-end will cost more if you go with a nice posi unit)

not unless you have a highly modified engine...DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY on any off the shelf chip or even a mail order. your not at that level yet.

gears, air induction and exhaust is what you'll gain most from beyond having a properly tuned and well condition engine itself.

gears are definately a nice seat of pants mod but they only change how your power is used. the induction is where the extra horses are without opening up your engine.

They have a good point, the idea behind going fast is getting the most air in (intake) and getting that air out (exhaust). The more you open those two, the more the car moves (within reason).

Anyways, other than those mods, try a new Cam, some headers and if you still have bling, shoot for some heads. You'll definitely improve the performance as well as the sound of your car.
