hurst dual/gate 2 installed

I just finished installing this shifter a couple weeks ago. it took awhile because it was cold outside. i must say that this shifter is awesome. I had the b&m mega****er before, but i got tired of the indicator never working, the glare from the light, and the 2 wires that were hanging inside my console. when i compare the 2, i cant believe that b&m would market such a poorly engineered piece of crap. Its supposed to be a direct fit, but i had to hack up my p/n switch and drill holes in my car. it was also a pain in the *** to get out of park and was horrible for heads up racing because i didnt have time to jerk the damn thing back to first gear fast enough. The hurst on the other hand uses all the factory mounts and the factory p/n switch(which i kept thank the good lord). it shifts very smoothly through all the gears. the quality is excellent and the shifter plate provides a much more factory appearance than the metal plate and boot that b&m provides(which cracked in 2 months). even though the hurst costs a little more, i see where the extra money went. b&m's r/d department needs to do a little more research and development before they advertise that shifter as a direct fit.

Do you have any pictures of this shifter installed? I currently have the B&M one and if the hurst one is better, then I'll just sell my B&M on ebay to some poor soul and get the hurst.

i happen to like the b&m shifter... i already had some cracks in the shifter plate so i dont care if i have to cut it... who cares about 2 little holes... I think for racing it's quicker to leave it in full auto. (unless u have a full manual valvebody) my indicator works fine... maby u just have bad luck

Can you post the pic.
I have the b & M and its hard as hell to get out of park too.
I didnt buy this thing it was in the car when I bought it and to make it worse the guy who put it in did a crappy job in addition to the crappy shifter. Id like to find a replacement.

I have the B&M one and I don't have a problem getting it out of park. They said in the manual that if you have any trouble with that, to check the cable path. It is really tight going through the floor, so that might be a place to check. Also you have to have the cable routed a certain way. If you don't, it will cause the shifter to bind up. Just my 2 cents.

Im ready whenever you are Carfixxer i cant post the pic cause its too big. ill email it to you though. One thing the megashifter is good for is some laughs. go to your local muffler shop to have some exhaust work done, and laugh your *** off for 20 minutes while the idiot mechanic tries to figure out how to work it.

Thanks for the pic, Well I guess I have to add yet another thing to the wish list, I'm not sure how soon I can get it I need a posi/gear set and I just bought a TCI trans.
But as for laughs at the people who try to shift it, I tell them "you cant shift it into drive like a girl" and that usually works....I guess its also a good theft deterrent

I read up a lot about the dual gate before I finally just did my cheap upgrade to the megashifter. Any problems with the shifter overshifting in the right gate. I heard at times the operator really has to make sure they push to the right and they upshift or it will jump up 2 notches?

It is true to an extent... I have had mine on for about 5 months now.

When you first use the Hurst Dual Gate 2, it can be a little trick to use the race gate without overshifting into 3rd on the first shift. After a little bit of practice it becomes second nature. You have to push the shifter to the right, then push up, then ease off, and do the same thing. It is really nice once you get used to it, but you do have to push to the right to get it to stop at 2nd gear.

It's like 200 plus I think. If I remember right you can get it from Year One. I think it's back ordered. I was looking into it over a year+ ago. Try doing a search you should find a lot of stuff.

You can get it from jeg's. year one wants $300+ for it. jegs is like $260. it comes with a shifter cable and they recommend using it over the factory one because of breakage issues. but if you really dont care, the stock one will work.

Once and awhile you can find them on ebay. I seen one on there but once it went above 170 bucks I stop bidding on it.
