Need exhaust help nowwwwwwwwwww

ok so i just bought this 1990 formula 305, awesome. few minor things wrong nothing major except one........theres holes the size of baseballs in the exhaust, midpipe, muffler and the tailpipes, so all i get sitting in traffic is exhaust in the car. Very bad. Now the good thing about this is that this just gives me an excuse to buy a high performance cat back system, but herein lies another problem...money. so im going to buy it piece by piece, pipe, muffler and tailpipe and weld it all together, now i see this hooker headers aero chamber muffler and its cheaper than flowmaster, but i like flowmaster so has anyone heard this hooker muffler sounds like or any muffler for a 3rd gen that would make it sound badass, any help is much appreciated

hookers are awesome, oh yeah the headers arent bad either.

First off, welcome to the boards! Now back to your question. There are a few members that are running this muffler. One right off hand is "Mark A Shields". Try IM'ing him, he seems very knowlegable about this muffler and cat back. Also, you can try doing a search for it, there have been a few threads on it before.

Hope that helps and welcome to the boards.

I found that you can buy the Walker Dynomax 3 inch cat back systyem in pieces and not all at once for one price. That may help you. I have a flowmaster but many think the aerochamber sounds better.

save money and do ur own work. i had the same problem and i only spent 150 bucks on my car, all i needed was the extention pipe which cost 25 dollars at murry's then the mufflers and tail pipes. very easy to work on, just make sure that u or one of ur friends have a hoist u can get to.

Yes, they make them for the f-body. Just like the flowmaster it's a cross flow design. As I stated earlier, PM Mark. He has or had this muffler. He can tell you about it.

Here is the product info on the muffler for all those following:

I've got the hooker aero chamber muffler on my car now. My exhaust consists of Flow tech headers, custom y-pipe, and hooker cat-back. I have no complaints. Its a lil quite on idle but as the rpm's move up it sounds nice and throaty. Oh and gutted the cat. Which seriously increases sound.

HI all! I have an 84 305 trans am and I put a Gale Banks 3" exhaust on it about 15 years ago I think...It is just now starting to get holes in it and low and behold Banks only makes big SUV exhaust systems now...I loved the performance boost that this exhaust provided and everyone commented on the throaty roar it produced when pumping the accelerator or taking off. Has anyone here heard of the banks system and do they know which cat back system out there is comparable? I had to weld 3" openings on the cat to put the banks system on.

Thanks

Ford(yes my name - go figure)

ok i got my hooker system in.....ummm yeah its all right, hopefully the muffler needs time to break in, if not im just gonna go with a flowmaster 80 off some guy on ebay. Im not sure why everybody knocks flowmaster, i put a super 40 on my moms jeep and it definitely sounds like its got some hair on its nuts now, acceleration was definitely improved, so yeah it gives you more power and more soundand i like that rumbling drone at cruising, if its too loud your too old or you should just go buy a civic. anyways later everyone
