Underdrive pulleys

I saw reports of up to 20 hp gain from these, though a conserative republican friend says i'll only see about 3-4 hp. I have the 305 tbi motor, that has been bored out and decked, blah blah anyone have any idea what kind of power gain i'll actually have?

I have to agree with your Great Republican Friend. The lower numbers are more correct. Allen

I am cheap, so what I did was the following..

Made a switch to shutt the alternator off the "racing" only.
I have a serpentine belt, so I have another belt and routed it to miss the power steering.

With the 2 mods I listed, I could seen a solid tenth at the track, roughly about 10hp, maybe.

i've seen people drop 2-3 tenths with a full 3 piece set.

with that said, it's not the same in every case.

i dropped 1 tenth and gained 1 solid mph when i deleted the ps belt...so, what am i doing? going to a manual steering box, then i gain all that power all the time, instead of just at the track, and i loose about 30lbs. off the front of the car. (which is where you want to loose weight in these cars.)

i am also planning on picking up the bbk 3 pc underdrive pulley set, but all i have to drive is my alt., waterpump, and crank. that's it. nothing else.

you will also see a slight INCREASE in fuel economy, and the less weight of the aluminum pulleys helps the motor spin a little more quickly.

I used the 2 piece motorvation set and I noticed a couple of things
1) aprox. 45-50 miles more per tank
2) drop in alternator voltage when I am running the stereo hard
perhaps that equals a little hp put I have yet to go to the track to test it
just my .02

yes...it's the main pulley turning everything, so...

on a car with a/c, it may be effected in traffic sitting at a light or something.

never done a comparison between the brands, but i KNOW that BBK and March both make excellent quality products and they deliver what they advertise.

That's because you got the performance 3 piece set.
I'm selling the 2-piece "Power and Amp" which relieves you of any charging difficulties.

That makes no sense at all. why buy pullys to slow down your accesories for more power only to bog down your motor with a bigger alternator.

Yall need to make a choice between going fast (cool) or having a loud stereo (not cool).

Not tryin to flame, just a little friendly teasing
