Gear Vendors OD

Probably some of the best money ever spent

Relatively easy installation; instructions left a bit to be desired.

Good day's work including looming all the wiring, etc.

Re: Gear Vendors OD

What car did you install your gearvendors on? I am planning a unit behind a turbo 400 in an 85 firebird, and looking for any install tips to keep hack to a minimum. Thanks

I don't see these being that much better since I have a higher than stock stall. When I shift going down the road from a stop, you can hardly hear it drop rpms as it just hangs around 2200rpm. I'd prefer a lock-up converter first, and then an overdrive. Even a moderatly steep hill going up it at a constant 35mph takes 3000+rpm.

Wow! This thread has to be a record.

Revived after FOUR YEARS & still gets a reply from the OP!

I've always loved the idea of the GV Overdrive, just not the PRICE of one!

I wanted one for a long time, but couldn't justify the price.

A deal fell in my lap for a NIB GV and a set of Hooker SuperComps to fit my truck for $2K to my door

Re: Gear Vendors OD

I just want to try and find out about the fit. I am aware of the pros and cons. I am basically looking for a simple bullitproof overdrive. I have a neighbor with an 8.40/160 mph 1.26 car (g-body) that I have seen the reliability in.

Re: Gear Vendors OD

Hey everybody, just saw Gear Vendors on Jay Leno's garage http://www.jaylenosgarage.com/at-the...entley-update/

Has anyone put this on a Third Gen with the stock OD auto transmission? Thanks!

Re: Gear Vendors OD

your overdrive would be 0.49 final, which would require 4.10 plus gears to be usable on the highway.
with a 3.08 rear end, you would be turning about 1200 rpms on the highway... too low
