Ya i've been looking at Headders and exhaust for my 1985 Z28 with a 305 L4G Carb how are the Edelbrock Headder and exhaust? Is there any after market intake systems for that car i know about that one you can fab your self just wondoring is there is after market ones? thxs
for the lg4, any kind of headers will help a ton. but the best shorty headers on the market at this time are the hooker p/n 2055. they run right around $350 for uncoated. any 3" catback is pretty much going to net the same amount of power gain, but the one you pic is entirely up to you. if i were to do it over again and run a 3" catback instead of my current setup (which i wouldn't get rid of for the world) i would probably run a hooker catback. the are relatively mellow at idle but absolutely scream at wide open throttle (WOT).
as far as intake goes, not sure what you mean, they are carbed cars. if your just talking about the air filter assembly and making a "cold air" setup, there is nothing on the market like that. what i would suggest is trying to find an l69 dual snorkel filter. you can run an open air filter element, but, unless you have a cowl hood feeding it cool air, i'd just run the dual snorkel. they are getting harder and harder to find and when you do find them, they are expensive. so, you can make on by taking another single snorkel air filter and cutting the snorkel off and fitting it to your assembly after cutting a hole for the provisions. there are tech articles on it here in the tech article page. here is a link to what a dual snorkel looks like. just scroll down a little. i think that this particular one has been chromed, but you get the idea. dual snorkel pictures

i forgot to mention carb tuning. and make sure that before you do anything to your car to do a tune up on it. replace EVERYTHING! cap/rotor/coil/plugs/wires. do an oil change if your do. look on the carburetor board for more help on the carb tuning. there are also aftermarket intake manifolds for the lg4 as well. just look for anything with a spread bore carb flange. how far exactly are you looking to tear into your motor? if your not afraid to do major things, once you get all that stuff taken care of, do a cam swap and roller rocker arms.
Yes i want that set up for the intake if some one has one i well buy where can i get that shinny thing with the other intake port for the hoze? And where can i get some of the skinny hozes? Thxs
L69 dual snorkel air box with KN filter
Air valve tension mod
DR secondary metering rods and B hanger (I've got B and G hangers as well as AH and DR secondary rods for sale. If interested PM me)
Advanced timing
Taylor 8 mm plug wires
Summit double-roller timing chain
Summit cam
Edelbrock Performer intake
L69 exhaust: manifolds, y-pipe (Catco high-flow cat), intermediate pipe, and Vortec high-flow muffler
Awoke the old boy pretty good (not like the 350 HO Deluxe I'm running now however)

On my 83 LG4, I cut the stock air cleaner lid at the ledge just outside of the filter element, then sanded it smooth and repainted it so it looked almost stock. I then replaced the short paper element with a 1" taller K&N filter. I also removed that damned silencer ring on the air cleaner base just inside the filter element.
I had also cut open the hood scoops on the 83's plastic hood as well, but I know that's not possible on the 85-up Z28 hood for cooler air...
Another couple of things I did were to free up some horsepower was by using electric fans to replace the engine driven fan, and (if you have to have one) I got a larger smog pump pulley to reduce drag on the engine....I think it was from a V6 or I4 f-body engine.
There was a noticeable reduction over the small V8 pulley in terms of drag. The usual aftermarket reduction pulley kits might be worth looking at, too...
But exhaust as suggested above makes the biggest difference....the LG4 exhaust were miserably restrictive.
not trying to steal the post or anything but james i might be interested in your rods and hangers im swaping a l98 bottom end and heads into a lg4 carb and want to use the lg4 intake and carb but im afraid the cc quadrajet might not be able to handle the 350 with full exhaust. Basically i would like to have more performance with the swap then less and alls i hear is how i need to get metering rods and hangers seem to be the only performance part to by for the carb. Which hangers and rods should i use on this swap? Also what size open element should i get that will fit the z28 hood?
