Pro Systems Carburators = Awesome

I've had good luck with my Promax 750DP, its been a great carb but I think my 383 has out grown it.... so I decided to try a Pro Systems carb. I gave Patrick at Pro Systems all the specs from my combination and he custom built a 950DP carb to match. I'm totally impressed with the quality and customer service. I had a little trouble tuning my carb and he quickly returned my call making a couple of suggestions that dialed it in perfect. Tuning these carbs is a little different than the standard holly dp's that I'm used to. They respond so much better to tuning changes and have a lot of adjustability built into them that a normal holley doesn't. My car feels much stronger at part throttle and wide open throttle and the idle is leaner. I've always read that you will lose some part throttle responsiveness with a larger carb but in this case I feel like I gained in every aspect. I don't have any new track times yet but the butt dyno says I gained a tenth or two My dad has a Pro Systems 850DP on his 408 small block mopar and its worked out great for him too. I would highly recommend one of these carbs to anyone, I think they are worth the money, heres a link to their website if anyone is interested.

thanks for that post. I hadn't heard of these guys - the prices look pretty reasonable too. Mind telling us what your custom built 950 cost you?

$699, which isn't too bad. I ended up sending the 950 back because I didn't have enough stall and gearing for it, it ran great on the top end but had a slight hesitation on launch that I couldn't tune out at the race track. They sent me a slightly smaller carb and its worked out even better I finally ran a 1/4 mile last week and ran a tenth quicker. You can't beat that kind of customer service.

sounds like you're happy with your purchase, I just swapped to a proform 750dp and i'm really happy with the throttle response compared to my old 850 that seemed a little sluggish. Probably was just too big for my combo

Yes I'm very happy with the purchase. With a street/strip car like I have I like to go as fast as possible while retaining drivablilty. With my combo I've had to do a lot of tuning with other carbs to get the car drivable on the street. I've had a holly 750dp, and a Promax(Proform) and I had to drill throttle blades, change squirters, change accelerator pump cams to get them tuned in and I never was quite satisfied. The Promax carb ran well once I got it tuned in but the Prosystems carb seems to be more consistant and give my car a little more top end mph. With the Prosystems carb I just had to set the idle speed and tune the idle mixture screws and that was it, it was definately worth it for me.
