The Summit Brand "Power Lid " air filter ?

I was wondering if any one has tried this filter. Its a copy of the K&N X-Stream air flow top ( lid ) for a 14in. open air element.
Thanks,
Ron

i just bought one for my dad for his birthday im preety sure it is the same thing. thats how most summit parts are its really the same piece but without the name. personally i think it is awesome that they do that. b/c i could really care less about the name on it.

I have the summit top on my IROC right now with a K&N under it. I could also care less about the name brand. But it works great and it's also cool to here the air getting sucked in when you stomp on the gas.

Won't that defeat the purpose of the cold air package?

It's probably more of an appearance mod than anything else. In most cars there won't be much air going through it while it's practically touching the hood, and the pleats on the inside will reduce clearance above the air horn, hurting flow.

well it really depends on hood but, the more area air has to enter the engine, the better.

Sure, but in most applications that lid is actually reducing the airflow.

hmm, would it fit a stock air cleaner? Might be good for the power bulge setup... I was going to seal my air cleaner to the hood anyway.

It might defeat the purpose of a cold air intake, and all, but on the other hand......The increased airflow, might outway the warmer air....I think im going to try one, if it will fit my stock TBI, air cleaner...I am running a TPI (gutted) airbox, and a modified stock TBI air cleaner, already have the K an N filter inside....I will post pics, if anyone is interested, it works well, looks kinda stock, but kinda different at the same time.........I agree about that damn addicting sound from a 4 barrel......My TBI is pretty quiet.....Is that normal for all TBI's?????????? Thanks for all replys...Tom

Thanks for all the input. I have the Goodmark steel cowl hood on now and that opens up the cold air being drawn from the top. So I put the Summit Power Lid on and I really love it. Looks awesome. Has the dark red filter with chrome lip setting on a 14 by 3in dark red cotton gauze micro fiber filter by Spectre. ( part # 48022 )
