Can LT1 or LT4 cam fit a stock 88 5L TPI LB9

Hi Guys,

I was just wondering if I can swap my stock cam with a stock LT1 or LT4 Hot cam? And are there any major disadvantages (driveability issues?) or advantages, and what kind of gains can i expect from low end to top end hp & torque. My motor is completely stock but i do have the complete exhaust done.

Thanks

Pat

Either will work but I would not bother with the lt1 cam as it is not much bigger than what you have. You will have to adjust the pin for the timing chain to the length appropriate for your motor, lt1 length is longer. The lt1 power increase comes mainly from the improved flow with the heads and intake. I have been told also that the ports on the vortec heads and the lt1 heads are if not identical, very similar.

The hot cam will not work without a lot of changes to the heads (too much lift)
