Re: cool air intake

hey there camaro boss, i have a 87 t/a and i built my cold air intake...its not necessarily like what SLP sells, but its good enough for me...you can find it on their website or on hawks but they sell for like 200 if i remember correctly, i built mine for like 35 bucks, its simple if you go to home depot and you get 3" PVC, a right angle connector and some pipe clamps to hook up the pipe to the MAF, then just get a 3" cone filter and hook that up on the other end of the MAF...it worked out pretty damn good for mine, hope that helps

Re: cool air intake

I did the same but with a uni k&n filter and spectre filter. Wasn't really a big power difference either way.

However instead of mocking something up yourself some guys at firebirdv6.com already built a cold air intake.
Go to firebirdv6.com
Click on Modifications
Click on third gen
click on intake
and go from there.

May I also suggest doing the throttle body coolant bypass mod and doing a nice tune up if your looking for some extra power

My camaro is also a 92' 3.1L but i'm doing a 350 swap into it
I'm parting it out right
So if you ever need any hard to find or expensive parts PM me
the car has 100,000 miles and has been protected from the elements it's entire life.

And your right you don't have a MAF but you do have a MAP sensor (I just bought a new one before I decided to do the swap) $50 at checker never used it but since it's electrical I can't return it.

Re: cool air intake

im assuming you have TPI?
----------
Also, i'll keep an eye out for you... but usually the best thing to do if your building your own parts is to find a brand such as K&N and emmulate their product, copy the bends and turns and just eye it up. (maybe, thats illegal...beats me)

Re: cool air intake

Yea racerx i'd love some pics it'd be a big help,

i'm just looking for some retalitively cheap ways to get a little more power to that car, i've already got a flowmaster exhaust, and i did notice a good difference and alot nicer of sound, I'm a newbie to the car world (i'm only 17 and didn't get into cars till i was 15) so if anyone has other ideas other then an engine swap (trying to keep it a daily driver and have good gas milage)

Re: cool air intake

if you are talking to me no i dont have tpi, im running a holley street dominator I with a Q-jet... i think i found the solution for the carb atleast... im wathcing a old rusty 70's dual snorkel H.O. air cleaner... with a few mods it should do what i want it to, and it has no value because its pretty rusty, but thats ok, ill fix that
