Spec stage 1 clutch slipping

I put a new spec clutch my 91 camaro with a 305 tbi, a new flywheel, new throwout and pilot bearings, and i drove it 500 miles to break it in properly. now after 2134 miles i glazed the disk backing out of my gravel driveway. it is up a hill but come on this thing shouldnt be slipping yet. thats 280 down the drain. im going with a centerforce dual friction this time and see how it goes

Re: Spec stage 1 clutch slipping

Are you sure it was installed correctly? That's usually why clutchs fail quick, or getting oily or just a bad driver. My 92 305 TBI STILL has the factory installed clutch and I have close to 200,000 miles on it, and it will still bark 2nd real good.

Re: Spec stage 1 clutch slipping

I'am not a fan of SPEC clutches myself I owned 2, lot of people have problems with them. If I were you I would phone them up and see what they can do and maybe they will send you a new one and sell that one right away lol.

Re: Spec stage 1 clutch slipping

I put a spec stage 2 in my 96 last year, and it didnt make it out of the garage. The pressure plate was cut incorrectly at a angle. So it only grabbed on the low side shaking the hell out of the car.

Sent it back to spec, they sent me a new one, then sent the new one back to Thunderracing in exhange for a RAM..
