Stock replaceable filter in a K&N is part# E-0890 ('90 5.7 Firebird).

You can also get an open element cone style which is about 10" long and route it down and into the front corner of the fender / front fascia.

You can walk right in to any Advance Auto or Auto Zone and buy them off the shelf. At least where I am from you can.

The one that fits right over the throttle body is RC-5000. Just bought one i know it works and i know it fits. Oh yeah thats the K&N part # but im sure any autopoarts store can reference off that.

why would you want one? The loss of power of breathing the radiator heat has been discussed/proven many times.

go cruise around town for a while, then pull off and throw the hood up - tell me you want to be kept breathing in that air. - The fans will help to feed it the rad air.

I don't have the numbers for this specific application, but I picked up 7rwhp enclosing my 14" round carb filter and running 2 3" ducts to it back when I had the stock hood. - The differences of it being on top the motor vs at the front would have to be minimal.

Re: part # for k&n TPI throttlebody airfilter

I'm going to have to locate my timeslips and see what they actually say, I found conflicting posts... both my own
Anyway, I did a back to back at the track, with ducting to the stock TA airbox location, and with the MAF sucking air right off the radiator on a very hot day. I dont remember any real difference either way.
