I decided to switch to Hooker 2210's when I built my 383 stroker last summer since I was quite happy with Hooker in the past (previously had 2055's). I ordered then in July of 07, didn't put them on until September when my motor was done. Took it in for custom exhaust and was able to hear an exhaust leak from the driver's side header. Checked all the bolts- no problems there. So I thought maybe it was the cheap gaskets I used- decided to go with cheap ones because I want to get the headers JetHot coated eventually anyway. So I put a new gasket on, still leaks. I took the header back off today and upon further inspection, I notice a crack between the flange and primary of #2. Summit can't do anything, Hooker has a 90 day warranty. I will call them tomorrow and see if they can work with me... this set was trouble from the start. (The first set came dented, and I had to file about 6 of the holes to get them to line up)
I will update when I talk to them.
Attached are pictures. You can see the light coming through the crack. The second picture is the same angle as the first but with the lights on.
I hope they work with you seeing that this is the second set of headers with a problem. This could also be bad "PR" for them. It never hurts to try to talk to someone about an issue. Good luck and keep us posted.
wow i just got my set in from jethot...i'm gonna have to inspect it really close now
I bet that if I had these JetHot coated, they wouldn't leak until somewhere down the line. My last set of 2055's didn't leak- but they were coated.
I hope they work with me too. The warranty is 90 days from the date of purchase, but they gotta understand people buy parts and don't install them right away all the time. Sure, I can weld it myself but the point is I spent good money on something I thought was good quality and I got far less than that.
That is unfortunate. If they are not coated yet Andy let me know I can get them welded up for you. I have had no sealing problems with mine since I have had them on. No getting them in is an other story. hahaha
I called Hooker today and was told to email some pics as well as a copy of the invoice and they will work with me- likely replacing the header(s). I can weld them, but when I pay that much for a good quality product and get crap that I have to fix, it disappoints me.
I didn't have too hard of a time installing them, actually. The driver's side is the one with the leak, and that one comes out in about 15 minutes.
I spoke to Darrell Cook on the phone and he was really cool about the situation. He had me e-mail him the pictures as well as a scan of the invoice. A couple days later, he called to confirm my shipping address and he is sending out a new set of headers. All I have to do is swap the driver's side one from the box, put the old one it and give him a call and he will send them back to pick it up. Hopefully this one is better quality.
