June 2008 Camaro Performers Magazine

Just picked it up off the stand today and saw that they did a feature on TunedPort 335's car. The car was looking good as always.

Check it out if you haven't already.

And also, if you didn't already know, they are offering subscriptions now to Camaro Performers!

Re: June 2008 Camaro Performers Magazine

That is a very nice car.

Is it me, or is the new editor biased against thirdgen camaros or what? Oh well, I bought the issue just for that one car and it was worth it.

Re: June 2008 Camaro Performers Magazine

I was saying that he is biased because the 3rd gen coverage dropped from about 25% of the cars in there to about 10% when he came on board. At one time they had two different 3rd gen project cars going and even did an article on hopping up a 305. Then about 4 issues ago they got this new editor and the coverage is mostly 1st gen and 4th gen with some 2nd gen thrown in to boot. I was really glad to see the story this month on TunedPort335's car.

Some guys wrote letters to the new editor about the 3rd gen coverage and his response was that basically 3rd gen owners are a bunch of hillbilly trailer trash.

Of course I'm going to buy it and probably get a subscription just because it's the only camaro magazine around.

Re: June 2008 Camaro Performers Magazine

funny how they focus on the two generations that produced the least amount of camaros. about 700k each, whereas 2nd had almost 2mil and 3rd 1.5 mil. Maybe 3rd and 2nd gen owners just dont read car mags. Or maybe they figured out that magazines currently dont offer anything that the internet doesn't, except a subscription fee.

I'll subscribe when they provide original useful content. Maybe pay someone to make high quality tech howto's/articles like many on this site that are geared towards people who dont own thier own shop, like a 10-20 page feature each issue. Get a prom guy on there, etc. Lots of reviews before and after bolt ons or ecu programs on the dyno. But that's asking too much.

I wonder why the revival of the mag, could it be the 5th gen coming out soon? i dont see why that should have mattered to the publisher, since if it's geared towards 1-4 gens then the 5th gen wont matter, it's a totally different car. The people who are buying the camaro have them, regardless of the fact that the 5th is coming out. Maybe they plan on featuring the 5th gen (even though it's only a camaro by name), in which case, big surprise at what gen will get even less coverage.

Re: June 2008 Camaro Performers Magazine

anyone see the august issue. tgo member glen was in the firing back section. and there was a good bit of thirdgen coverage too. in the back they had an 84 camaro sc, with an lb9 bored to 317 stock tpi on top, with headers, th350 with 5300 stall, and a 12 bolt with 513 gears. although they did not list the cars e/t. it races in the stock classes. and was doing a pretty nasty wheel stand. must be a 10.** car. so its a good issue guys.
