Autometer Service (long)

I know most of the posts on this forum are about products to avoid, but I'd like to give a shout-out to Autometer for their great product service.

I had been kicking around the idea of an Autometer gauge swap for awhile, but when I found a member here selling an entire pre-built cluster I jumped on it. The guages were great, but then the trip/reset on my speedo stopped working, and since the trip button also programs the unit, it was pretty much worthless.

I e-mailed Autometer service about this, and got an message back within hours telling me that since I didn't have a receipt, it would cost a few bucks (not much) to fix the button, so I sent it in.

As it turns out the speedo model I had purchased was recalled. Even though I told their customer service rep that I wasn't the original purchaser, they still replaced it for me with a brand new one (in the box) for free. They even offered to set the milage to whatever I wanted.

If your wondering whether it's worth the extra cash to buy Autometer rather than Sunpro or some other cheap stuff, trust me, it is. I've used the cheap gauges before, and never been satisfied with them. This set of Autometer's has been great.

Re: Autometer Service (long)

i have thought about buying auto meter gauges before. i haven't had the need to buy anything yet, since gauges hardly ever wear out, but its good to hear good things about a company based in sycamore, illinois. i'm almost positive thats where they produce the guages.
