Quality is not cheap and that is why JC Whitney catalogs are free.

Not being harsh just stating the reason behind pricing.

We can get OER for next to nothing and sell it dirt cheap too. We choose not to.

My point being Hawks is getting grief for a product they sell not produce. We prefer to have our name tied to only the best products available for that application.

I am sure the guys at Hawks feel this way also as that is a basic business principle.

In many cases no that will not be the cheapest on the market. If you have to do an install once every 15 years, or once a year over and over there is not savings at all.

You always want to condier the END PPOINT cost of the product.

Cutting and trimming rubber seals to get them to fit out of the box, simply does not work for me at least.
ok your not getting this apparently...

$270 for the 2 main OER Seals..... from you

$229 for an 8 piece OER kit from Hawks.......

do the math. Pintos or BMWs, doesnt matter. Paying more for less is retarded.

Thats the consumer standpoint.

those are not OER they are Metro Molded

This is a pair of NEW fisher T Top weatherseals that go around the t top roof for 82 - 92 Camaro and Trans Am.

These are produced by metro molding and offer a 15 year warranty.

Units install easily and stop both water leaks and wind noise! After 30 years factory seals wear and allow both wind noise and water to enter the cabin. Installing new weather seals is a great and easy way to preserve your car, and also increase it’s value! Sold as a set (left and right)

Re: Warning OER t-top weatherstripping trash!

----------
Please NOTE:
We include shipping anywhere in the USA with our entire product line AKA there is no seperate shipping charge. Our seals are also Metro.

When ever you look at any of our products that is the price TO YOUR DOOR

Not trying to bicker with any one
Hope the above info helps.

Master,
Ya can buy cheaper out there, we cater to folks who are going out of the box and on to the car. That does cost more. Install a full OER kit on your car and you'll better understand why we offer Metro (which yes is not cheap)

Restoring a car on a strict budget OER will work watch that video we did to better understand how the OERs fit. They will work but you'll be trimming with a razor to made it work right.

I have restored quite a few cars for myself and clients. I would rather spend extra money out of the gate and know once I install a product the work is done. I don't have the time to spend 5 hours trimming and adjusting. For me 5 hours of my time is well worth some extra money on the front end.

For a weekend warrior who has nothing but time, go with the OER at the cheapest price you can find. be patient and careful and trim trim trim.

For folks who want it right out of the box, be ready to shell out some extra $$$

Re: Warning OER t-top weatherstripping trash!

OK someone asked what was exactly wrong with teh OERs. The driver side body seal was too long towards the front on the A-pillar. I had to trim little pieces to make them fit.

I have adjusted my seals multiple times and they still leak...A LOT.

Now other then OER and GM who sells the full 8 piece set? If Metro does I will get those immediately. If no one else has the 8 piece set I might have ot get GM...making me sick thinging about all that money.....

Re: Warning OER t-top weatherstripping trash!

alright, i see your point but are your seals molded after the original seals, or after the 91-92 style. Gm put out a TSB about the seals with the drain provision at the butt joint.

Heres my (and most likely alot of other people) issue: my seals are old, but so are the rest of the t-top components. Where does that leave us?

Up a creek without a paddle in a leaky canoe....anywaaaay.....

They are molded after the 91-92 style. I was told that it was a superior design. I think most of the t-top components can be freshened up really good anyway. I really am going to spend an overkill amount of time installing my 2nd round of weatherstripping, I want to make sure there is no reason for leakage.

Anyway...which companies make the 8 piece kit besides the 2 I mentioned before?

I wish I could go back and edit my 1st post to add that so others don't have to read through all of this like you did. the problem was I was too frustrated at the time and couldn't write down a good answer.

I agree with Fbodywarehouse. I understand having to modify our cars for custom parts (hell even the custom parts sometimes need modified). But when it comes to replacing a stock part, I prefer it to fit and work as well as the original.

Re: Warning OER t-top weatherstripping trash!

Hey Guys...I've been all over the board, the net, shows, etc.. looking for good weatherstripping. Here's what I can tell you, in a nutshell.

The 1Aauto stuff is cheap...that's about all that it has going for it. It doesn't cost much, but you get what you pay for. It's pretty much cheap China stuff, but is better than nothing.

The Soff Seal stuff is garbage for the price, I actually bought some t-top strips from them, they didn't fit at all. I called them and was told to "just return them for new ones"....DUH, if the ones I have don't fit, the new ones won't either. They are idiots! Took me forever to get my money back. I would stay away...but, you do what you want...don't say I didn't warn you.

I finally found some OEM stuff at a swap meet. They have some very minor damage, but actually fit. So...keep looking guys! They are out there.

I called the guys at Steele, and they said they'd look into it. I bought some stuff from them years ago for my Buick and they were awesome. So, I am hoping they will consider doing these....these guys rock! They do everything themselves and love talking to their folks (ask for Trent...he knows a ton!). They told me the problem is that there is way too much of the really "cheap" stuff on the market, and they can't compete honestly with those because they make their stuff here and by hand, (which is actually cool).

oh well...that's my experience...good luck guys.
