Armor All EDGE Silicone Wiper Blades

Has anyone here actually tried these?

They JUST came into our store. They look almost identicle to REFLEX blades except they apparently are made of a silicone rather than teflon coated rubber like in the reflexes.. But the rest of the design looks almost identicle! HOWEVER the starting cost for the new Silicone Armor All blades are $6 MORE than the starting of the Reflex blades..

Current Reflex wiper blades

Well my experience.. FORGET IT!

I popped off my old wipers. It took about 10 MINS to get these stupid things on! The clips are SIMILAR to reflex in how there is a pivoting plastic insert where you clip the wiper arm rod to however the design of it is REDICULOUS!

The clip has 2 VERY STIFF clips unlike the reflex with 1. The clip is SO tough to SNAP not just 1 but 2 clips inside the wiper itself that it constantly wants to pivot on the other pivot point that is breaks loose. Then when you lift the clip, slide in the arm rod thru and attempt to SNAP the clip back down, the design causes the clip to pop off the wiper itself as you try to force down 3 SNAPS.. If you are not perfectly center in how you are pushing down, the rest of the part pops out..

THEN after all that, I turn on the wipers (pouring rain right now) and they chatter LIKE CRAZY. Actually jumping off the windshield as it chatters..

I then put the wipers to the top of the windshield to remove them. Got out of the car and just discovered the wiper just POPPED RIGHT OFF (sliding thru the wiper itself) so if I were to have let it wipe back down it would have fell off and scratch my windshield..

USELESS.

I did searches on the net and apparently Reflex has a VERY bad problem of them popping right off just like these..

HAHA, guess you should have down the searches on the net before you got em. Lesson learned. Lucky it's only wipers and your not out too much money. Maybe you can return them?

Re: Armor All EDGE Silicone Wiper Blades

ive been using a set of proline wipers from pep-boys on all my vehicles, less than $10 for a set and so far they've lasted me 1.5 years without a steak. i figured for the price, i could change them well before the "recommended" interval and still be paying less, but i havnt had to yet.

those expensive wipers always have the most stupid retaining mechanisms.

Re: Armor All EDGE Silicone Wiper Blades

The reflex style is very popular. Rain-Ex uses them now they are called Latitudes, Bosch's version's are the ICON"S. They all work very well and I would recommend them to anyone.

I had the same problem with some wipers that had the same kind of attachment. I can't recall what brand they were.

This attachment method sucks the big one.

I work at NAPA and I have the Trico Neoform for about 10 months now and I love them. They seem to work great.

Re: Armor All EDGE Silicone Wiper Blades

I believe the Bosch Icon wipers were first to market. They also seem to be the highest quality. They're the only wipers I put on my cars. I have a 3 year old set on my Honda, and they're still great.

Re: Armor All EDGE Silicone Wiper Blades

I had those reflex blades on my old truck and they worked well but they did start to slide out of the saddles so I poked a small hole underneath the mount and threaded a small zip tie through and around the mount and that worked great for a couple years. I'm thinking about those armor all EDGE jobs this time around but I worry about the coating leaving film or whatever on the windshield. Any thoughts on that?

Re: Armor All EDGE Silicone Wiper Blades

The coating is on the rubber, so the rubber lasts longer. It won't leave a film on the window.
