GT fender concept

I have tried searching with no luck and was curious if anyone has had any experience with these fenders? or the duraflex RA2 hood they offer?

Re: GT fender concept

300.00 damn is that for 2 fenders or just the 1? Hell even for 2 its still a bit pricey. Fair warning "DuraFlex" is just a fancy name for the fiberglass they use.

Re: GT fender concept

Thats pretty crazy, I thought I had seen it all in thirdgen and on a daily basis I am reminded that the human imagination is relentless. I like the fenders, but whats up with this hood. This thing is horrendous. Does anyone actually have this ?

i think those fenders would go well with the inverted jap hood. They would compliment each other well.

Re: GT fender concept

except for the price I actually LIKE the fenders (flame suit on) but that hood that was posted... EWWWWWWW uhhh no thank you sir, I'll pass. Maybe if they brought the cowl down a bit further it might make it a bit more palatable... Nahhh on second look I don't think that would help it any.

i like the look of the lower vent (pretty much identical to an 84 Trans Am vent) but not the upper one. The entire picture appears to be photoshopped anyway, I never get a good feeling about a product when the company provides a picture that doesn't look to be of an actual part they have made.

Re: GT fender concept

Hmmm... That appears to be the same Ram Air II hood that Hawk's offers, but a good bit cheaper. Even with shipping. I might look into buying from them, but it does worry me that some pics looks photoshopped and other pictures aren't their own, like the one of the Trans-Am Ram Air II hood. That's not their picture. lol.
----------
This one is soooooooo obviously photoshopped too.

Re: GT fender concept

well i bought them from an ebay store, but they are the durafex ones. i thought they were actually very solid, and the quality was great, but like i said the mounting hole marks were a little off but no big deal, and they really arent designed for street use, so there is no way to mount the marker lights, so what we did was cut out the area around the marker light on the stock fender, and mounted it to the back of the duraflex fender. i got them off ebay because shipping was way cheaper

Am I the only one that sees the ASCD's hoods and pics on their site.
How are they selling those hoods when ASCD went out of business?

What do you mean they are not designed for street use ? Are they flimsy ?

no they arent flimsy they just dont have mounts for marker lights. they are more designed for show cars but if u mod the opening for the light, u are ok.

Why do you think ASCD went out of business?

Stinger Fiberglass is who now sells ASCDs stuff. If they were bought out or what, I dunno.

How dare you compare a masterpiece like the stinger hood with that abomination.

In other words, rework the entire hood and it looks the same LOL

You have to remove the pool racks also...or whatever that's supposed to be there on the sides

Re: GT fender concept

yea well the fenders actually have a few more problems than i anticipated. the vents that do in hit the inner fender brace, do the guy who is doing my bodywork has to cut the inner fender brace and make a modify it for the fender to fit and not hurt the braces structural integrity. im sorry that the pics are taking so long...but i will post them when i get the car back.

VERY NICE....

Couple of questions...

Did the mesh come with the fenders?

What did the body shop need to do in order for the fenders to fit?

How is the fit and finish of the fenders?

Thanks

Again.....nice job

Re: GT fender concept

i had a guy i work with do it at his garage. the vents hit the inner fender rail or whatever it is called, so that needs to be notched. the mesh comes intact, the fenders are too short on the bottom, so a bracket needs to be made. there is no way to attach the marker lights so the housing was cut out of the stock fenders and attached to the inside of the neew fenders. the fenders sit a little higher and are a little wider than stock, so hood clearance is very tight. the fiberglass has some waves in it but i am happy with how they came out.

Anyone notice they ripped off the ASCD photo for the RAII Firebird hood for their Duraflex hood?

Re: GT fender concept

they look good, I just wish they would offer an option to just have the lower section of those front fenders. Then I would be all over it, but the teal camaro looks sweet!
