im wondering what everyone thinks about me putting this on my car.its brand new and has just been sitting in my garage since around 1988,(it was on a showroom camaro). if i do put it on i will be putting a high rise spoiler on it if i dont put it on i would be selling it.if you dont think i should put it on,then how much should i sell it for?i know that this particular style is not made any more.there are others like it but not with the louvers.this style last sold for around $900
so leave your two cents on this.
and note..i like for my car to stand out but not in a bad way
heres a picture of my car,it currently has louvers on the back window:
heres the targa hatch:

I've seen those type hatches on firebirds...even thought of getting one myself, but I feel like they don't flow well with the body of the 3rd gens. That may be largely because the spoilers they used on the gta's with 'em, or just that they are so rarely seen. I say if you like it then go for it.
why dont you get a buddy to help you take off your hatch and lay that one in place since you already got it? then post up pics and you'll get better feedback. theres only 6 bolts to get the hatch off iirc, pretty simple
if you did put it on, what would you do to color match it to your car??? do you do your own paint work??? if not, you'll prob run into some money making it match

yeah i am a painter at a chevy dealership.i painted my camaro my self.so this hatch wouldnt be an issue.its been a wo years since i painted it and beings how ive done more modifications i want to give it a fresh coat.i plan on re painting the whole car this summer anyways.same color but with black rally stripes on the hood.
sounds like you got nothing to loose, so why not go for it?? you never really see camaro's with that kind back on the road, at least not around me. it would set you apart at the local shows. just keep your stock hatch, provided you got decent storage for it.

yeah i think thats what im going to do.and if it turns out that i dont like it.il just sell it
Before seeing it on the car, I would have said no, but after seeing it on the car, I think it looks better on the Camaro body than it does on the Firebirds. Go for it.
My vote is dont do it. I know you like to be different but (personally) Ive never liked the lines on those targa hatches. Leave it stock and sell that hatch on craigslist.
i think you should do something cool with the window, like get one of the back window decals they make for pickups. the ones where it looks like a graphic from the outside, and you can still see out from inside. you could get one and cut it down to fit
thanks for all of the feedback.im definately gonna at least try it on for size and see if i like it maybe this weekend.but i think im gonna llike it.in about two weeks il be putting my blower motor in and turbo 400 trans.so il be a little busy with that but i should have it on and painted for the car cruise coming up in ocean city.il take pics if it sitting on with the high rise spoiler this weekend hopefully
until then heres a little video it wouldnt let me embed it for some reason but heres the link
the one on the blue car and the white one are two different styles, there gonna look different.
I would say no it would look bad and you should sell it but I would be lieing I want it badly but 900 is alot maybe around $400-$500
that is the style I have been lookin for, Because it will not change the profile from the side and that's what I love, and you can take the window out, do you have the window?

You hear the one about the fella who died, went to the pearly gates? St. Peter let him in. Sees a guy in coveralls working on a Camaro. Says, "Who's that?" St. Peter says, "Oh, that's God. Thinks he's Chris Jones."

i like the originality of the notchback look....on birds lol camaros just have a different look with em, it reminds me of a del sol really, only difference is the size/ and a t-bar lol

lol man your kinda right, i still want one on my camaro
but the aftermarket notchback i plan on purchasing kinda sticks out from the glass giving it that "Del Sol" look
i still feel a need to have one on my maro though, i believe one that was flatter/longer along the trunk area would look Really Sporty

or if it had a more aggressive look to it, the long trunk just makes it look awkward maybe if they lengthened the top wrap part and give it some hard lines id do it unfortunately the only way i could get that would be to mold it myself

I know this sounds crazy, but Thats what we might have to end up doing
I wonder how much it would cost to have one made for me, I was planning on spending up to a 1000 on one anyway
Squeeezer Please Let Me Know Where you purchased your Notchback From? & Is Hawks Third Gen? I think it looks very nice.
