Just bought a Trans Am

I have loved Trans Am's since I was little and I finally got one. It's a 84. I've worked on trucks but never really anything for performance. What are some good parts or little projects to start working on to give me max performance? Also I was looking at a Holley power shot air cleaner. Are these good?

Congrats man, give some specs on the car, mileage, rebuilt? If not rebuilt I'd just start with the basics, full tune up (plugs, cap, rotor) Seafoam everything, and please please please change the brake pads and shoes, seen too many people not check or replace the stuff and ended up eating it.

Re: Just bought a Trans Am

It's a 84, it's got a crate 305 magnum V8 with 10,000 miles on it, 4 bbl carb. Body is in ok shape for being that old. So far the only aftermarket parts are the Edelbrock valve covers and the Edelbrock intake manifold. I was gonna change the brakes and give it a major tune up before anything.

Re: Just bought a Trans Am

Right now I have a factory THERMAC on there. I was wondering if a K&N open air on top of the carb would be better or worse. Even if it's about the same it would at least clean up the engine a little.
