Camaro Shift Kit???

Hi, Just bought a 1987 iroc. The guy i bought it off said it had a shift kit, but i'm unsure what the name is, or if it's even on there at all. How can i check to see if there is a shift kit installed, and if so, what does it do for my car?

it should be firm and fast shifting if it has a kit in it, or it could be totaly radical with a custom made shift kit/mods.....

i had a store bought shift kit and it was firm and quick shifts, a few thousand dollars and a total rebuild made for the drag strip, i got a 700r4 than lays rubber shifting into 2nd and sometimes into 3rd with firm, quick, and solid shifts... also can hold WOT in 4th gear along with abunch of other mods....its 100 times better than a store bought shift kit, and a store bought shidt kit is 10 times better than stock

a stock 700r4 is sloppy shifting (you would have to drive a stock 700, than a modified 700 to know what im really talking about) it aslo will not alow WOT in 4th gear

i hope this helps you some

Re: Camaro Shift Kit???

The car is an automatic, and it's a brand name shift kit ( or so i was told) that is fairly common. can't remember the name. So how would i tell? The tranny when it shifts is rough, especially from reverse to Drive, it almost gives me whiplash. lol. Any more information???

your trans is the 700r4 like i got

B&M is a pretty popular store bought shift kit

TCI is an higher end store bought shift kit

its more than likely a B&M thats a real popular aftermart kit

it shouldnt be hard from R to D though, you will only notice the shift kit in normal shifts
