Very good stuff. I've never personally used it but am thinking about trying it out because I'm only running Valvoline conventional in my new engine. Strange, because I've got a little bit of lifter tick and it's only got 2000 miles on it.

Usually, if you go into an auto parts store you'll find a little display of gears and a handle where you can turn those gears. The display has two sets of gears, one set is just regular oil and the other set is oil and Lucas. I want to say it's an 80/20 ratio but don't quote me.

Anyway, Lucas provides a little more viscosity to your oil. Kind of making it a little thicker but not harder to move around in your engine. It's basically supposed to just be able to give the moving parts inside your engine a better coating of lubricant around them to provide smoother operation of those parts. I highly doubt you would notice any sort of performance gain. It's basically designed to add a little bit more viscosity to the engine oil to better lube the parts. I can't really figure out any other way to describe it.

I work with a guy that used to participate in truck pulling and this guy swears by this stuff. I've just never personally tried it.

Next oil change on the bird I'm going to try Castrol GTX 10w30 with a quart of the Lucas to see if it helps with my lifter tick. Right now I'm just running Valvoline 10w40.

I'm sure somebody else can get on here explain this stuff a whole hell of a lot better then I can, but at least I tried.

Re: lucas oil additive

i run it in everything but my honda, IMO it saved a 454 of mine from locking up / getting serriously ef'ed

i have torn apart motors that have had lucas ran in them and the stuff "sticks" it really leaves a nice coating over the parts that are in contact with oil, so you know you got oil where it needs to be

lucas is the only additive i run, but i also have had some good luck with engine restore, and would be the only other thing i would run in a engine

have tried the real expensive stuff, the cheap crap and all, lucas seem to have them all beat, all around, all lucas products.....and then engine restore would be the only other thing i would run, i dont know if it was the engine restore, or it just stoped, but had friend w/ a tickin 305, put a can of restore in it and it stoped tickin about 100 miles later

but just to warn you, you have opened up a can of worms, the to use lucas or not to use lucas is like the ford and chevy guys having a what is better convo after a pack of cold beer
