Help Before College! Don't let my baby rust away!

So I'm bringing my 92 RS to school... I'm sad because few places to work on it and much less time... but I have to leave it outside unprotected.

I need a less than expensive car cover that'd keep my car safe from scratches water sun snow birds... you know all the usual things we all hate...

So does anyone know of a good outdoor cover that won't mold up my car either? I'm heading to Purdue so it's not the most extreme climate but it has its days.

Please help!

Thanks!!!

Auto zone sells car covers for 20 bucks. It worked well at keeping rain off of my car.

I'd recommend against a cheap cover if your car has a clear coat (I think all 92s did from the factory). If there is any wind at all the cover will wear through the clear coat and cause it to flake off. If you do get one make sure you tie it TIGHT and maybe tape the edges around the bottom of the car. I've seen multiple instances of covers, even good quality ones, wreck a clear coat.

As mentioned above cheaper car covers can wear through clear coat and even paint. Wind is the biggest enemy as even with more expensive car covers it can wear at corners if the cover is allowed to move much. I would suggest buying the medium to higher quality covers you can get an auto store (usually runs between 50-100 dollars). They are made better material and usually come with a warranty (though I've never known a person who kept a car cover long enough to see one through). A trick I use is to buy some cheap plastic clamps to clamp down the corners under the body to keep it in place.

Buy a bike and find a garage rental situation nearby if you're really serious. Check craigslist or anything equivalent for your area, and make sure you sign a contract. You may need to get a part time job to pay for it, but being in a garage really is the best situation if you want to keep your car nice.
