Alright f body crew. Im looking for a new air intake/cleaner open air or dual snorkel that will be worth the money i pay for it and emissions legal. Please and thank you
Stock one is not doing enough for me. Need a little bit more mpg/horses, switched a k&n air filter and got a tiny bit more performance but i need more.
I use to make a dual snorkel system like the H.O 82-84 Z-28's had. I wish I still had pics of them. If you have some basic metal working skills, a dremel and acces to an old junk yard I can surely walk you through the process. Basically I added another identical inlet to the air filter housing element. You'd need another air cleaner housing, the plastic hose and hard plastic inlet piece mounted to the body behind the headlight. You'll need the dremel with cutting wheel and sanding wheel, pop rivet gun, jb weld, and an afternoon. I even have some of the older aircleaner lids that allow you to use the 3" tall air filters for more air flow. Tony
I did this on my truck, cut a second hole on one side, 3" flex dryer duct, not the rigid flex!! that material seperates easily. I taped it to my filter housing up top with the duct tape that has webbing, its expensive tape but works great, good deal through wholesalers. You can find something like it at Lowe's/Home Depot. You will probably find something with an aluminum looking film/paper on one side and the light tan on the other. Makes for a nice air tight seal and stands up to the heat. Just dont remove the air cleaner any time soon after...

Its not perfect, but fun and practical. Everything's boxed in, polygraphite bushings, zerks fittings, ported L98 block, heads, intake, plenum. No smog, heat, or ac. No carpet, no interior except for the dash, shifter, and a seat. Shorty headers into a y pipe, to a 3" Powerstick that dumps out before the axle

I presume we are talking TBI;. I just went and got an open element 14" carb air cleaner
cut 2 holes in the bottom tin and put the valve air intake and the temp sensor from the old one in the new bottom. Looks like it has a carb and is chrome.
