Ok then. I have no choice I have to get a used engine because I just dont have the money to get a new one. Would you recomend that I use this in the engine. Now of course I get to hear the engine run before I get it, so I will have one that doesnt smoke or have a knock in it.
Up to you. If it's good used engine you shouldn't have any issues with it. If it has a bad gasket somewhere it could cause that gasket to leak. My mother-in-law's car developed a valve cover leak after I put it in. I ended up changing the cover gaskets and spark plugs cause it had around 110k miles and was still OEM. Was the gasket bad before? Probably leaked some or started to and the seaform just removed some grime around the leaking gasket. Did I get blamed for causing the leak by the mother-in-law? Of course!
Like anything use your best judgement. Seaform isn't going to magically fix major issues it's meant to be used cleaning more than anything else. I've heard of it cleaning sticky lifters and etc.

Oh I dont ever expect magic anything. The engine I get will be run for a while before I get it. I will not get worked over like the last 1 I got. I just see that a lot of people here like the stuff, so I just want to make sure you know, before I go and buy something. It is smart to always ask questions long before you buy anything. Saves on hassles I have been out of the car game for several years, products change and they came and go.
This is just my way of having piece of mind before I commit to getting anything. Be it a used part of anytype or a chemical to add to the engine in any way. Even having been a mechanic for 20 years it is always a good thing to ask when you just arent sure. After all the only dumb question is the one you didnt ask, right?
Oh I agree also. If there is a leak it will be fixed. Even if that stuff shows it. I myself cant stand a leak on anything. As I said this is a CYA kind of thing.
I've used Seafoam on all my cars. I never noticed a change, but I'm sure the stuff does what it's supposed to do....my cars were all running well when I used it, though. I have heard that it's a great product.

It does not smoke if put in the gas tank, only when poured into the intake...It does not take long for it to stop..In the old days we poured tranny fluid down the carb to clean the valves, and such...Don't know it if worked, but it sure as hell smoked alot.....

seafoam is awesome first time i ever used it i scared the hell outta myself after i sat there revving my car for 15 minutes until it stopped smoking i pulled out of the driveway stomped it to the floor spun out and almost had to buy the neighbor a new car i mean i expected it had to have helped after all that smoking but it literally felt like i doubled my power normally i could tank it and get some wheel spin chirp the tires but that time they just started spinning with ease....
I had an issue with my new engine, the valve covers didnt have good baffles and it ended up pulling oil from the PCV into the intake, fouling plugs ect. Also started pinging after at WOT. I'm thinking this Seafoam might be just what I need to clean up my intake and valves/pistons of the oil/carbon.
i have an 87 tpi 305 and want to use seafoam but am unsure of where i can add it in, can someone get a picture and circle what vaccuum line i should pour it into?? THNX!!!
I used to be a skeptic of seafoam but my cousin kept saying "Oh a dur dur dur put some seafoam in it" usually I replied with "F U" but I finally felt like trying it in my jeep and forr the first time since ive owned it the engine light turned off probably an emissions sensor that had carbon built up on it. YAY for seafoam!!!

seafoam stories are the most fun to tell...i had a 1980 GMC Jimmy (fullsize w/350) and it had not been started in 4 years. i started it up and got it warm, then put some C FOAM in the carb and BAM! instant throttle response (there was not much before) and then i went an pulled a 2000lb sand rail up a 60 degree dirt hill...it pulled it like a champ. dont forget..put it in ur mower and go carts if ya have any...it works
just put the seafoam in my tpi. holy crap the smoke that poured out!! i would make sure that your cooling system is up to par. my water temp shot thur the roof as i was pouring it in. i guess my car needed it cus she moves now!
When I try to get bikes running after they sit for a while I always put seafoam in the gas then get it to idle. After a 2 or 3 mile ride the carbs always clear up and it saves me a rebuild. Also when I used it on a ford tempo the amount of carbon and crap make the tail pipe shoot out black liquid. It is great stuff I love it.
i used sea foam yesterday on my 355 in my camaro. Put 1/3 of it in the carburetor until the engine coughed out, then placed the other 2/3 into a full tank of gas. When I fired it up it did smoke like a bugger but after a few minutes the smoke was gone and I can say the idle is definitely smoother and it does have a peppier response than before. Anyway I really liked this stuff and plan to use it again in the future.
Sea foam works great on any gas engine. You can even put it in the crank case, but be careful not to over fill your oil. I f you do this before your getting ready to drain your oil, it cleans out any small carbon and deposit that may form in the valleys. It also works great to clean the "varnish" in carbs when poured into the intake when running. I have used it for years. it works great.

I imagine if you're clogging multiple fuel filters you have quite a bit of particles in your tank and it should be cleaned out. I've seen fuel pumps towards end of life eat themselves and that cause particles too.
If it's the first time it's clogged it's far easier just to change the fuel filter it takes about 15 minutes, the use of 2 wrenches, and doesn't leak out that much gas.
So i just had a clogged fuel filter will these seafoam help disolve some crap that is in my gas tank?
Anyone else have problems with clogged fuel filters its a 1992 z28 camaro.

With engine warm, slowly pour 1/3 to 1/2 pint through carburetor or throttle body throat. (If vehicle is port injected slowly pour SEA FOAM through direct manifold vacuum line that will feed all cylinders, possible sources are P.C.V. valve or brake booster line.) This will pull SEA FOAM down on top of the pistons and to the back of the intake valves to dissolve carbon. Turn ignition off. Restart engine after 5 minutes. If severe carbon build up is apparent, use more Sea Foam as previously directed. Make sure exhaust is well ventilated when using Sea Foam in these various ways as fumes will be extreme for a short time.
Pour 1/3 to 1/2 pint into oil crank case to clean rings, lifters, dirty parts and remove moisture.
Pour 1/3 to 1 full pint into fuel tank to clean injectors, carburetor jets, fuel lines and remove moisture.
Immediate Results: Smoother idle, increased R.P.M.’s better throttle response and improved performance. See label on can for detailed results for use in each area.

If you have a clogged filter just change it out. When you have the new one in place then add some sea foam or other fuel system cleaner to it.
I seafoamed my daily driver S10 (1/2 through the brake booster line, 1/2 in the gas tank) and it did smoke ALOT for a few minutes then let up. However a week later I had to replace the intake gaskets, they probably were not in the best shape before the seafoam since they were original with about 160K on them at the time. I have not used anymore since, just some Lucas tune-up in a bottle seems to keep it running like new. The truck currently is two oil changes away from 200k so I may seafoam it again in the near furture, I just hope I dont have to replace anymore gaskets this time (like the original head gaskets)

no seafoam is about as good as it gets...Have used it many times, after a friend told me about it...

dont forget to put some in your oil 100 miles before your next oil change! it will make a difference
I use seafoam in all my small engines as well.....mower, snowblower, trimmers, etc.......pour some in the gas tank before your last run of the season and watch all that crud burn off......they all start right up......neighbors are jealous cause I never have a problem
Hey guys, seafoam is great, but if you go to an NTB, Merchants, Firestone,MR.Tire, Sears, ECT. the 3 step fuel system cleaner is the same thing, at work we take the vacuum line off of the brake booster and run an iv into it, the iv is the best way to do it, and i dont really recomend it on OBD2(96+) unless you are replacing the o2 sensors, and it will not hurt any other sensor
If introducing any liquid to a running engine via a vaccum line make sure its small, unless u are using something to step the size of the booster line down it's likely it will pull way too much into the engine at once causing hydrolock and could possibly bend rod(s)
This crap clogged my c/converter from 22yrs of engine gunk or carbon build up lol couldn't even see through it I guess it did it's job but word of caution will clog some **** pardon my French
Just a comment... a bit more costly, but well well worth the money is BG Products.
It adds to the gas, and will clean everything better than anything I've ever seen.
My car would hardly run at one point due to clogged injectors, it ran like it was new once I used the BG cleaner thru the gas.
Typically found at shops and possibly some car parts shops, or can be ordered.

Same way as the V8's. Brake booster vacuum line, and/or through the gas tank.
I can't wait to try this stuff, I've always seen it, but I thought it was"snake oil" too. My Camaro had sat for 2-3 years when I bought it and I had to replace the fuel pump to get her going. Interested to see how Sea Foam may improve it's performance.

about a month and a few days ago, when i was still debating on selling my 1994 ford 4x4, me and 2 of my friends were in my yard and had 5 cans of seafoam hehehe, i did the vaccume line on my 5.0, my friend did his vaccume line on his 5.8 in the bronco, then my other friend did his vaccumes in his f250 with the 460. hehehe, dear god.. me being in a residential area with a field on the right and neighbors on the remaining sides, and all of our trucks having longtubes headers and glasspacks, magnaflow, and thrush, all cranked at the same time and smoked out the neighborhood, hahaha my neighbores came out and asked if there was a fire

Hahahaha that sounds like a party. Well after reading this I'm gonna be doing a tune up here soon on my camaro and I'm definitely gonna try the stuff. My car always feels likeke it's bogging down so hopefully this will help
