Re: Tail light Covers

They are stickers now? When I got mine they were "painted" on or something along those lines. I used a razor to get it off. Came off without a scratch!

Re: Tail light Covers

bought a few things from jegs, not covers, but make sure wherever you get covers, you get GTS..You'll thank me years down the road...if youre a cheap bastard, get cheap,if you want to pay attention to details, and get your moneys worth, you gotta spend now,and do it right the first time......Years/lessons learned...

I hate to be a buzz kill, but...

Keep in mind that this give cops another great reason to pull you over. If you're like me, then you're probably doing something your not supposed to be doing already, so do you need that?

A nice, clean, polished taillight looks great too. Plus, you won't decrease visibility and have some drunk crash into the back of you.

Re: Tail light Covers

I think zero13 meant to remove the little white GTS sticker that is one each of the blackouts, I don't think he was saying that they are stickers or whatever. I read somewhere that using nail polish remover will take the little sticker off with no problems.

Re: Tail light Covers

Looks really nice there ChevyRS-305! Is that nightshades spray tint? Are those american racing iroc replica rims? Your car is sexxy, not a fan of the sticker on the rear window but still a beauty.

Re: Tail light Covers

Not sure what the tint is called but if you heat up the lends with a torch first just a little bit the tint sinks down in the plastic and allows the light to be more transparent. My wheels are the american racing iroc and that decale on my back window is my car club logo, Been on their for years just like the wheels. I just put my 92 z body kit on it though... notice I shaved the rear body line in the bumper and the emblem on the side skirt, along with the front emblem and cut out the license plate bracket to allow more flow to the radiator.

Re: Tail light Covers

for me its not the cops, its the decreased visibility. i have nearly ran people over because i couldnt tell if they were on the brakes or not and i had ample room between me and them.

Re: Tail light Covers

You have a problem if you cannot tell if you are coming closer to a car in broad daylight. Night time is a different issue, but we still have the third brake light, and license plate lights for illumination if the tail lights are REALLY that dim.

Re: Tail light Covers

they make covers for third brake lights and i have encounterd this issue on newer vehicles as well. out where i live we have long stretches of sub hwys and when your doing 65 and you see the car/truck slowing down faster than one letting off the gas and "no brake lights" only to finally see they DO have brake lights once you are upon them, thats an issue.

a friend of mine had covers for both tail and headlights, in order to have close to actual headlights he ran with his brights on all the time and that still wasnt enough.

Re: Tail light Covers

Yeah, I've seen the third brake light covers on some newer vehicles. Particularly, on a chevy silverado ss. Looked great and all, but it didn't cover the entire brake lights, it left little spots of red where a Chevy emblem was cut out of it. LoL

Looked like this for the third brake light:

They are meant to be removed at night thats why there held on with velcro circles. When they first came out they were intended for show purposes and then people started running them on the street. Look very nice especially on black cars but i would always be afraid someone would rear end me especially since i have no third eye brake light

Re: Tail light Covers

I have had the GTS blackouts for 18 years. (didnt drive the car for 12) I got pulled over last week for 'multiple' issues. He didn't pull me over for the tail light covers (was for my halos) but he mentioned the covers being illegal. He said if I had brighter tail lights it wouldn't be an issue, so I am working on rewiring the entire tail lights with ultra bright LEDs.
