Spectre Chrome Valve Covers. Fitment issues.
Wasn't exactly sure where to post this But, I ordered a set of Chrome valve covers by spectre from summit last week. They look great and all, and I can just barely tell any size difference in them and the stock ones. But after removing drivers side cover I could not get the spectre cover to sit flush on the head. Wiggled it around at different angles for awhile but never could get it to sit right where I could bolt it down.
Was wondering if anyone else has tried there covers and ran into similar issues.?
Kinda hate that I wasted $60 on em.

Have you tried the other new cover. I can't recall exactly, but I believe centerbolt valve covers aren't exactly centered...thus, you may be trying to fit a passenger valve cover on the driver side. I want to say I did this when installing my new Billet Specialties Tall and Plain covers. I tried pushing it on at an angle, sort of how you describe, then I tried the other and it went on like butter. Let us know.

No I was aggravated and didnt even think about trying the other cover. lol I assumed since my breather filter is on my passenger side and on my drivers side I have my oil cap and pcv valve, that the spectre ones would be the same. Of course I could be entirely wrong.
When I finally get another day off I'll try putting the cover with the breather on the drivers side and see if it will fit any different.

I do not have spectre covers . I did have a problem once till I realized I was trying to install them upside down . on centerbolt covers the lesser ribs up (towards intake) longer ribs down (towards exhaust) . I felt like a fool when I realized my mistake . good luck .

Good luck getting them to fit. I ordered a crate engine once that came with Spectre valve covers. They were warped to the point that if 1 end was flush to the engine the other was 1/8 inch away from the engine. The timing chain cover never did stop leaking either. I will never use another one of their products again because of the horrible quality control.

Im not 100% sure but I think the heat riser piece on the drivers side exhaust may be interfering with the lip on the spectre cover. Since its a decent amount wider at the base. I tried bending the tabs on it down but it still wouldnt set flush.
If I ever manage to find the time and money to grab a good set of headers then Ill try to install these again if i dont sell them by that point. Thanks to all the replied.
