ascd big block hood question

I JUST CALLED ASCD THIS MORNING AND ASKED THEM HOW TAL OR HOW HIGH THE BIG BLOCK HOOD FOR A THIRD GEN CAMARO(S-290) WAS I WAS TOLD IT WAS 2 AND 3/4 INCHES TALL CAN ANYONE CONFIRM THIS BECAUSE IT LOOKS A HELL OF A LOT TALLER THAN THAT IN ALL THE PICS I'VE SEEN.

I used to have it and yeah, that's about right. It's not horrible, but it definitely blocks vision some. Not too dangerous, just a pita when you have to sit up to see over it better.

what was the width of the lift like on it was it similar to the width of just a regular cowl hood? why did you get rid of it? any problems?

Yeah about 1.5-2 ft wide, I guess. It was about the same as a cowl hood. I had problems with fit and cracking, but after talking to some people on here, I think it was in part just a lemon of a hood and that I was using the factory shocks...too much pressure. You might try using some worn out shocks because the 'glass is so much lighter than the steel. Getting rid of it wasn't exactly my idea...I got in a wreck and it didn't exactly hold up well

ya hey worn out hood struts that cant hold the stock hood up work great with the fiberglass hoods such as the ss hood and the big block hood.

91 RS mods: 342 posi rear, spohn lca's and panhard rod with relocation brackets,ls1 driveshaft, built 700r4 trans with slp 2400 converter, b+m trans cooler, stewart stage 2 water pump, 1 5/8 edelbrock headers with 3' flowmaster exaust, 3 inch catco cat, i , msd distributor and msd wires, walbro 190 fuel pump, 58 mm throttle body, slp runners, ported stock intake. ac delete.

* Putting her together after 5 yrs of sitting . 350 tpi going in finally!
