headers question

will the edelbrock headers for the 85-90 302\350 TPI fit a 305 TBI?

Can't answer your question, but I know Dynomax sells a nice set of ceramic coated headers for your car for a good price.

they should fit, the outside mounting holes are all the same. I can't say for sure, but I'm almost 99% positive that they do. I was planning on putting the TPI headers on my TBI and haven't heard of any problems with that idea...

They shoud fit. The problem would most likely be the y-pipe mounting to the cat. There are acouple of different style cats-flanges. You can always replace the whole exhaust. Headers, Cat and cat back.

I will be doing that in about two weeks, and I will let you know how it goes..I got the edlebrock headers, cato cat, and hooker cat back all for the 350 tpi.
Some people on here are saying not to put the edlebrock gaskets on but get some copper ones instead???? should I do this, and where to get the gaskets? autozone??

copper ones are good. the only problem with them are you need to make sure you get them in right the first time. some people have had problems with them not sealing. once you crush them when tightening, that's it. yes, the headers will fit. the difference is what TBurke stated. the way the cat bolts or clamps on is the difference.

they should fit. i would recommend flowteck headders and y-pipe.
its very cheap.i paid $100 4 the headers, and $100 for the y-pipe brand new and they bolted up no problems at all and performance is outstanding!

I have them and they fit awesome. Also get Copper exhaust gaskets. Check out the second site in my signature and go to the exhaust section for part numbers for everything and pictures of mine setup on my engine.

I highly recommend SLP headers......buying them next month. Rated at up to 20 extra horseys. They are expensive, $399 w/o smog crap......but they are worth it. I am going to do some more research now that I hear more about these Flowtech headers. Hook us up with a link 84SilverbirdSE. Thanks
Gibby

yo guys if you have a speed shop in your area chances are that they will have the flowtechs in stock
they are great headers for the price
me and 84silver got ares from the same place
SK SPEED out here on longisland in NY
they carry them as a stock item but if your shop does not im sure that they can orderthem
if you have a 305 they are all you need the slps are not worth it untill you get a bigger motor
i will be getting them as soon as i can get my 406 built and put in
until them i love my flowtechs and they proform very well

flowtech PN# for the headers is 11102 and the y-pipe is 11102Y

look on the summits web site http://www.summitracing.com for them under the PN# BIG-11102 for the headers and BIG-11102Y for the y pipe to fit our cars

I have a 350 crate would the flowtech be good headers? I heard good things about hooker headers? What is your opinions?

flowtechs are good headers for 305 because they have 1.5 inch primaies and the y pipe has an exit of 2.5 inchs
this is all you need for a 305 even if to is moddified
if you put flowtechs on a 350 it would be a restriction

but for a 350 i would go with the hooker headers which have 1 5/8 inch primaries and have a 3 inch exit on the y-pipe or get some slp 1 5/8 in primaries

hookers are great headers but are about $100 more then the flowtechs

are these flowtechs for use with AIR set up?? will they fit my car without having to raise the engine, take sh*t off, grind things down, break things in order for them to fit?? are they drop ins? im asking cause ive been looking for headers for my car for 3 weeks.. ive been looking at everyones post about headers..heres what i have seen so far

SLP= pricey, have clearence problems, have to modify the steering shaft, alot of swearing

Headman= cheap, drop in, dont come with a Y pipe, i have heard about them not lineing up

hooker= best bang for the buck, sounds good, not too sure about just droping them in..

Edelbrock= pipes arent even, cheap $, comes with Y pipe,

i havent heard much about flow tech.. so i would like to hear about them...

heres what im looking for...

#1 not spending more than 400$
#2 want something thats a drop in and go(no fabricating or raising the engine, or grinding things)

my car has the following parts listed in my sig.. i have the Dynomax cat back now.. and a new CAT. all bolted not welded.

what are the best i can go with???

The flowtechs drop in and line up perfectly, they clear everything. They just bolt on. If your motor mounts are bad, change them because under heavy load conditions where header meets y-pipe will tap against the frame. Other than that, you have nothing else to worry about. They're very cheap. Each y-pipe and headers where I'm from run $110 each. So it's about $230 with tax for the whole setup. Their performance is excellent and unbelievable for price.

but i must say they do drop right in
only things you have to do is drop the starter to put the pasenger slide the passenger header in from underneath
dont try to put it in through the top unless you car does not come with A/C of is an 85 or eirlier like 84 slilvers(they have smaller heater boxes

I've got Flowtech shortys on my 89 and I must say I was real impressed with how easy they were to install, they drop right in, I had my installed in less than 2 hours.

yo when you put them on a 305 with no cat, 3"exhaust and 80 flowmaster
it sounds like a drag car
there is no holding back the exhaust
it sounds so sick
sounds like i got a 400 HEHEHE
get them you wil not be disapointed in any way
fit,looks,sound,performance
all great
we have them we know what we are talking about
i used my stock 2 3/4 intermediate pipe beacuse i have tpi and said 3 " wont do to much more for a 305
so the header $90, Y_Pipe $110, pipe to replace cat $4, flowmaster 80 $90, shiny tips $15
snaping peoples necks when you roar by...... PRICELESS
