Thoughts on Corbeau USA and fading

Hello,

about a year and a half ago I bought 2 corbeau GTS II seats from thunderracing for my car..

well almost immediately they started to fade a bit, now have settled on a bluish color.. not too awful but certainly not what it should be..

I went to Corbeau's website and entered a complaint about it.. well after about four days I got an email asking for pics and purchase date, after looking at before and afters they sent me brand new covers..

Not a bad experience, they were prompt and not troublesome whatsoever.. just letting people know..

Well thats good to hear that thier customer support is pretty good, however I still say they are way overpriced for some damn foam and fabric when the rest of the world sells thier seats for half the price of thiers.

I got them for 285 a piece, not sure if that was expensive when compared the others you are comparing them to.. seemed pretty competitive when you look at recaro or flofit.. the gts2 is pretty basic, comfy with high bolsters.. only one problem and they fixed that.

certainly didn't want apc..

I saw awhile back were you basically redid everything, though I don't really remember all the specifics. If they were replaced, how's the carpet and headliner holding up? Any signs of fading?

carpet is ACC and is holding up fine.. the seats mentioned above..

headliner and sunvisors are fine.. most of the interior refurb stuff I order from classicindustries.com

the gauges and all are still functional..

put some aluminized sound deadener in the floorpans, doors and rear quarters (fantastic difference) all in all I am very happy with it..

the only thing I am really doing to the interior now is respraying some extra trim panels from grey to black with krylon fusion, but I am not sure I will put them in since the stuff is not as scratch resistant as i thought it may be..

Good to hear. I know some have had fading problems with the carpets.

The fusion seems a bit too shiney for me.

Ever look at Sparco, Recaro, Cobra, Momo, ect.

the rest of the high performance seats make corbeau look cheap.

Its not so much that, I just can't warrant $1000 going towards seats, its ridiculous. I just bought some leather seats for about 1/4 of the price for the pair! Its not that I can't afford it, its that I don't deem the purchase necessary to justify the price tag.

EDIT: Not to mention, I can't stand when I buy something and I have to have a company name tagged all over thier damn product, that really gets on my nerves =/. I can't find any four point seat belt harnesses without them saying some stupid company logo.

theres a reason for the seatbelt thing...

they have to have the tags on there saying who made them, when they were made, and when they were last checked.

Does it have to be smack dab in the middle?

their cheaper seats definately have a cheaper cloth on them so it would not surprise me at all if they fade quickly...look at apc and other cheaper seats and they do the same thing.

you get what you pay for, that's very good that they sent you out covers like that. makes me think that there was a defect then though.

I gave them the purchase date and other info and mentioned possible defects.. they started fading from day one after install which seemed very early and I had heard of a few bad batches, since I got them on clearance it didn't take much to add it up.. though I was VERY polite in my communication with them..

regardless, even though the GTS2 is the "cheap" version it is plenty comfortable, provided of course your aren't too pudgy in the middle eventually they will get the leather treatment anyway..
