OER Weatherstripping

I was just wondering if anyone has heard of these OER weatherstripping. Classic Industries advertise them. I tried to order them a year ago but they said they were out of stock for six months or something like that. I had to go with Genuine stuff which was a lot more exspensive. I have never seen them advertised anywhere else. So I am wondering has anyone ever got them?. Do they really exist for 82-92 thirdgens?

We used the door weatherstriping on my son's '92 Z . It was good quality and has held up well over the past 2 years. Plus it's about half the price of GM. Chris

Chris,
Were did you get these. The last time I tried Classic Industries they were out of them And would be for a long while. That was about a year ago. Did you get yours from Classic industries or somewhere else. The reason I ask is I replaced all my weatherstripping with OEM except the passenger window seal and now its time to replace it.

Thanks.

I got mine from Classic Industries also. It was around March of 2003 that I ordered them. Have you tried Year One or Hawk's Third Gen Parts? Their prices are all about the same. Hope this helps. Chris

I had a look on their sites but couldn't find them. I tried to order some from Classic Industries in early 2004 but they were out of them. I have done searches on OER for Third gens but came up blank. I tried aftermarket stuff like Softseal but they were crap. I will check with Classic again.

go to GMPARTSDIRECT.COM and get the gen2 weather strip kit. its re designed where the top seal meets the body seal. the body seal has a lil cup that the top seal sit in and also inside that cup there is a drain hole for the water to run into so it dosent seep into your interior.
last time i checked the whole 8 or 10 piece kit (cant remember fully) was around $181 roughly.
the GM pn for this kit is 10164133.

Richard H.

It says on GMpartsdirect.com that it needs some material removed.....did you have any problems with this setup? It almost seems too good to be true.....

i havent replaced my seals yet as im waiting to paint it first.
i would assume they are reffering to the old seal kit. i recall there being a 3M chemical that is designed for making seals easier to remove.

Seal Kit

.. what they are refering to is old sealant to be removed.

... THAT KIT is the best available and pretty OK money wise... probably only marginally cheaper then getting a decent trade deal from our local GM dealer and....

... and.. BUT.. BE REAL SURE you have GM T-tops... not some aftermarket kit like Cars & Concepts.

.. my guess is you have Tops with securing rods that have "HOOK TYPE" latchs coming out of the top..

.. a bit of comparitive help is on

IIRC in 85 or so they swapped from the hook style and went to the rod version T tops.
i dunno but down there but here its rare or almost not at all on a third gen to have a T top conversion done so chances of running across a non tru GM T top car is rare.

t-top seals

Hey Richard.. your pretty right on there... but here.. (australia) all the F bodies we are talking about mostly came from Van Nuys....
.. we have some odd C&C retro fitted /dealer fitted t-top kits fitted to 3rd gens... just every so often you get caught out with it.. just worth mentioning in passing I figured.
.. Also Metro Rubber also do a main seal now that has proven excellent.. but the poster is still much better off with the GM kit mentioned imo.
