Summit camaro and firebird vendor review

most of the time i am very pleased with summits performance and they dont completely suck

however, they just disappointed the hell out of me by screwing me on shipping...i purchased a product from them thurs night, so it should ship friday morning...i payed for extra 11 bucks for 2nd day air...so what day should it get to me...lets see Friday (one) saturday (two)...so Saturday right

i check the status and its not gonna get here till TUESDAY...normal ground shipping from them gets to me in three days let alone FOUR

i called them and they bsed me on it telling me that i would have to have done some special saturday delivery bullsht which is crap bc i get packages all the time on Saturdays and then i said well its still not gonna get here till tues so WTF? and the guy tells me it shipped friday and that doesnt count as a ship day ARE YOU FN KIDDING ME...it ships friday morning and doesnt go anywhere???? how does that not count as a ship day?

basically i paid 11 bucks extra for it to take a day longer than it would if i would have shipped ground...ill nv make that mistake again...SUMMIT SUCKS as far as special shipping and customer service goes

2nd day is 2nd day business. Which means if it ships Friday you get it Tuesday. Weekend doesn't count as days.

Saturday is a special shipping day for some companys like UPS as they don't normally deliver on that day. It's always best to plan way ahead but I know it isn't always possible because stuff breaks and you need the part asap, but I have never had issues with Summit. I have spent over 4K with them.

I have heard of the Saturday being a special day thing, too. Not counting Friday is new to me, but who knows?

If you feel you were not treated well, contact Scott Esterle at Summit. He's active on one of the other boards I go to for Pontiacs, and he takes an interest in satisfying customers. Not saying he's guaranteed to agree with your interpretation of the situation, but it is worth a shot. If you want to explore that route, let me know and I'll get his e-mail from the other board or I'll PM him with a link to this thread.

Good luck.

The second you place the order a guy doesn't run to UPS with the package. It gets picked up at the end of the day. If you place an order after 5pm it's most likely not getting shipped till the next day at 5pm.

Fed ex ships on saturday like it's a normal day, but UPS doesn't.

I don't see what Summit did wrong?

I didn't see any mention of when the order was placed. It has to be done before 6PM Eastern time. Any later and it's considered being ordered the next day.

Also, you can call them after ordering to confirm everything is set and will arrive when you expect it to. I've caught a few that way.

And then I think they recently changed from Fed Ex to UPS and I'd prefer Fed Ex myself.

The only thing you can do is be ready for this next time.

-------------------------------------------------------------------
FYI:

I'd like to point out that when I ordered from Jegs recently, they split my order and charged me for twice the shipping, something I've never seen from Summit.
Edit: I contacted Jegs and the charges were an error. They were very apologetic and refunded the extra charge -no questions asked.

like i said before ive purchased from summit and had it shipped that day and recieved it within the three days via ground...i guess its all my mistake for not knowing that 2nd day shipping doesnt get to you in two days a little misleading if you ask me but i guess thats all my fault

it would help if they could make things just a bit clearer whateve it was just 11 bucks it could have been much more

ive always been happy with summit it just sucks that the one time i needed something as fast as they normally get it to me...it takes nearly twice as long

btw as ive said before..in my zip i get ups fed ex etc. on saturdays with no problem

I had summit do that to me. I ordered a mess of stuff, and was quoted $60USD shipping, ended up paying $135USD shipping, air mail, to canada. Had to put my flex fan in a seperate box. Got it in 4 weeks I think.(christmas time, shipping is alot slower then...) Usually have to wait 2+ weeks though. And that's air mail. They just bring a card to my door, and I have to go pick it up. Then pay 7% tax. Ground would take upwards of 6 weeks and i'd pay 30% of what I bought in duty. friggen fedex/UPS rapists....
You guys are totally spoiled.

Really? Well then the vendor must have eaten the cost. Cause I've not paid extra for it, and not expected it, but have gotten plenty of Saturday deliveries.

But good to know. I don't use Fedex often.

Yeah, I always got Saturday deliveries with Fed Ex, but not with UPS from my experiences. Sometimes I think it's a local thing. I wasn't ever charged extra, but then I never stated anything about needing it when I ordered it.

They probably did, the fee isn't much, I forget how much it is, but it's enough to make me patient enough to wait until monday.

I made a comment earlier without pursuing the issue. I since have found that the charges were in error and refunded. See below:

Shipping

I work for Fedex and can tell you that according to the Jan. 06 Service Guide on page 117 it gives the rate of 12.50 for sat. delivery. There are only two ways to get a package delivered on sat., one is fedex two day and priority overnight. If they are charging less, than that company may have discounts. Hope this is helpful to those who need parts fast.

I get packages from summit on Saturday all the time. I think they come Fed-ex ground or home or something like that. I guess they eat the cost but like stated before I didnt ask for any special service it just happens that way.

3 out of the last 4 things I have ordered thru the mail have been "delivery time rescheduled" by UPS (OOPS)... 2 of those orders were from Summit but it wasnt Summits fault, UPS just sucks.... They also damage more items being shipped than anyone else.

Ask anyone that works for Fed-Ex... they are way more strict on who they hire than UPS is.

AMEN...i HATE UPS they cost almost twice any others rates most times and they are slow as SHAT...to me summit should have kept their partnership strictly with fedex...who are quick as hell and ive NEVER had a problem with...watever i got my parts 4 days after i ordered them so not NEARLY in time but what can you do next time ill save my money though

If you ordered your stuff on Thursday and they said it would ship Friday and you chose 2nd day air. Friday to Monday is one day and Monday to Tuesday is one day, so you got what you paid for. 2nd day. It only counts on buisness days, and yes saturday delivery if a special service. Just take a look around some saturday, how many UPS trucks do you usually see on a saturday? not too many. Summit didnt screw you. ive ordered thousands of $ worth of parts from them and never had a problem, if I order before 4-5 on one day I get it the next day. i live about 45 mins from the summit in Ohio, and the local UPS terminal is 1/2 mile from my house.

Just be glad you don't live in a place where you could pay for the fastest UPS shipping option, and USPS is still faster.

I bough a lift kit from Summit 4-5 years ago and it came FedEx on a Saturday - I was very surprised.

My recent purchases have all been delivered by UPS. Normally if I order from them before noon, I get my items next day (lower MI is 1 day delivery when shipped from their OH warehouse).

We have UPS here at work and it does suck royally! I just had something overnighted from PHX and it showed up 2 days later than expected! UPS has a tendency to temporarily "loose" package for a day or so.

For personal items, I prefer USPS now - cheaper and faster.

I don't think it's Summit screwing things up - I think it's UPS!

GodSpeedGTA you need to think things through before you post "Summit Socks!"

You said it yourself "I've always been happy with summit it just sucks that the one time i needed something as fast as they normally get it to me...it takes nearly twice as long"

So there you go. It's not that Summit sucks, its the situation that does. Things don't always go smooth. I had an issue occur a few weeks ago with Summit myself. It also involved a time sensitive issue. A part was missing from an air intake kit and the directions didn't have a list of supplied parts. I called Summit and they delt with it. I would have desired a quicker response, but that's life. Like you said and I agree "I've always been happy with Summit."

I would hope if your Taco Bell order is wrong that we don't get a "Taco Bell Sucks! Thread"

Ah their hot sauce isn't hot anyway; even their fire sauce tastes like watered-down ketchup. I use my own

I'm a big Fan of Summit Racing, though, never had a problem yet! And if they've got the part in their Ohio warehouse, I'll usually get it in two days to NJ- as long as I order before 12 noon. But I've never gotten a Saturday delivery, either.

If it comes out of their other warehouse (Nevada I think?) then the package will take a week to get to me.

Summit has always been my #1 choice for customer service/parts in stock/shipping/etc. In fact through the years, 99% of my orders go to them first!

Here's a short/funny story: When I rebuilt my suspension, I bought all new Moog linkage from them (ball joints/center link/idler arm/inner and outer tie rod ends)- and the center link's box had torn and the grease fittings had fallen out. I called Summit just to make sure it took a normal-size fitting because I'd re-use the ones from my old suspension... and the guy refunded me $5 to "go buy some new grease fittings"!

ok would you guys let this die already...xjcamaro and onebadZ weve already established everything you said so thx for not reading the thread and reinterating everything...i wrote the title because someone had "SUMMIT ROCKS" right before it...thats why the first thing i mentioned was that summit is really a good company and i was just unhappy at how long it was gonna take

once again this thread is done...its my fault bec i didnt get the point that two business days meant 3 actual business days bc sat doesnt count...whatever ive gotten plenty of things on sat but thats not the point...MY BAD i got the parts whatever its done and over with...the customer service was kinda snotty maybe the guy was just having a bad day but just bec i didnt understand exactly what was happening he treated me like an idiot

ill still gladly do business with them they are a fantastic company..i just wont ever pay for more than their ground shipping LET IT GO

Summit

Hey, I've spent a few thousand with summit and I've never had any problems with them. They actually impressed the hell out of me with their customer service last summer. I gernaded the rear on my camaro and had a locker next day aired so I could get it back together for super chevy weekend. I got my parts on time but the locker had a defect on it and I couldn't use it. I called them up and explained the situation. They covered shipping both ways and personally inspected the new locker before it was shipped to make sure it was the highest quality. I expect to be buying a new ring and pinion from them soon, lol. damn 7.5 rear...

Many many people (including me) are happy with Summit and their shipping, so don't get your panties in a wad when we defend one of the most popular companies around.
I own an online tool business. I use UPS for all of my shipping because when I check the cost against FEDex, it is almost always cheaper to ship with UPS. I do not use USPS unless it is the only option because they are not reliable enough for me.

you've all got to remember that companies don't pay the same freight charges you and I pay. I work for a hyd/industrial hose company. We deal with UPS because Fedex reviewed our past 3 months invoices and said they can't even come close. What the freight book says vs what companies actually pay is very different. I'm sure UPS is giving summit a better deal than Fedex, so Summit ships with UPS.

...now where's my hot sauce?????

Sorry to hear your disappointed. My last order got here on time, but it was fexex that screwed me over. I ordered headers and gaskets, well one came by Ups and the other fedex. Well the UPS box got here, ust as the old manifolds were out of the car, so around 1pm. Get the headers in place, starter back in, lines rerouted and everything good to go for the track that night, but no gaskets. They showed up at 6:30 at night, and had been on the truck sense 7:15am, lol great, thanks fedex!

SHipping is shipping though, its hard to; predect everything when it comes down it it. Im always thrilled with the item comes on the day they say it will.

You just have to learn how to deal with business'es like this. I use summit for everything even if they are more expensive. If my package is even one day late I ask for a $25.00 certificate and never been denied. I spend thousands a year and they know it. If it doesn't go smooth, even with the carrier, ask for compensation..... they will go out of their way to make you happy I promise you that.

I know if I order before 3pm, my item ships that same day, but I am not sure which of their locations ship to Texas. They have 3 locations now in the US to try to help get your stuff quicker.

Summit has always been good to me. Over 5k in the last 2 years, never had a problem. hell, once i didnt read the description right on poly engine mounts and only ordered one. They shipped the other free.

Sparks, NV for me in CA. Usually get it in 1-3 days.

i've had problems with fedex attempting to deliver my summit parts, but never with summit themselves.

I do drop by autozone to see if its a couple dollars cheaper than summit from time to time, considering they don't charge you shipping or handling, and then ship it to their store, so i don't have to worry about the fedex guy not finding my address for a week straight....

Fedex threw my trans pan around like a monkey on acid. Summit was very nice about it and sent a replacement via UPS 2nd day air.

Will somebody please lock this thread. This thing was dead for two months before some assclown resurrected it. All points have been established. We've argued and agreed. Now, just shut the **** Up and let it DIE!!
