Phoenix Engine Rebuilders

Has anyone ever purchased a turn-key engine from this outfit? Their 355 and 375hp motors look mighty tempting pricewise (even if they are rebuilt and not totally "new").

Phoenix Engine Rebuilders 602-866-8044 Power 1 Engine Home

I'm looking to replace a tired (and sluggish) 305/140hp, and the prices of "new" crate motors are a little out of my price range, even the ZZ4. Any information would be greatly appreciated before I shell out that kind of money.

I'm also curious about this outfit....their feedback on eBay looks good, though. Anybody ever buy from them?

Your best bet is the vortec engine. You can get it from sdpc. It's like 2400. It's brand new and comes with warranty.

Re: Phoenix Engine Rebuilders

I bought a Phoenix engine from another guy who bought it from them brand new in the crate. I called and asked them to fax me the engine specs (the guy lost the papers) explaining to them that I needed the specs for various reasons hoping they would stand by their product (even though I am not the original buyer) That was over two months ago. In the meantime the engine sits in my garage on a stand (never fires) waiting for help from them that will probably never come. I am going to try again tomorrow. As far as the engine itself it looks clean and well put together but I will keep this post updated. If you want pics let me know I will put some up.

Re: Phoenix Engine Rebuilders

I'd be curious to see those pics ......

I spoke to Randy himself at phoenixmusclecar.com. He was very patient with me and pleasant, took the time to talk at length with me about an engine I might have him build. I'm looking at a sbc 350 (4-bolt main, 1-piece rear main seal) with 2nd gen vortec heads, hydraulic roller cam, and TBI intake manifold.

If I buy from him I will let everyone know how it goes.

I got one of the 355 engines from them about 3 months ago. I've been well satisfied with it and their service.

Part # 12530282, the engine cost 2783.00 plus vortec manifold and headers should be at least 300 hp with a warranty and the engine is brand new not rebuilt.

One of the best deals in crate motors right now is the year one 400hp motor for $2989 part # CT350PC1. Ported Vortec's, LT4 roller hot cam, and dyno proven. This a great motor for the money and you get roller parts.

All I know about Phoenix Engine Rebuilders is that I have driven by there shop over by the dear valley airport here in Phoenix and that sometimes they sell there motors on craigslist in the Phoenix section.

That's a pretty amazing deal. Very tempting.
