BEWARE of thepartsbin.com, alloempartsinc.com which is Mehran Nia US Auto Parts CALIF
I ordered a steel replacement hood for my 84 z28 and when I received it, sure enough, the hood was dented. It looked like someone dropped it upside down and pushed the front in. So I called Mehran Nia US Auto Parts out of Carson, CA and naturally had to place order for another one and pay again and I was told that I would receive an email with a return authorization number and other specific information. I was also told that I could put the damaged hood back on the delivery truck when the second hood was delivered and that I would not have to pay freight and would receive full refund when they got the hood back. Also I should mention that prior to buying the first hood, I emailed them to ask where this hood was made. THey said it was made in the US. That was an absolute lie. Its made in Taiwan. Anyway, the email never came. I called every day for five days and basicly got the same bull, you will receive an email. The last time I called, I became rather irrate and all of a sudden I was given a RA#. Then when I asked about shipping they said their computer systems were being updated and couldnt access that info and that I would have to call back in 10 or 15 minutes. I damn near came unglued and was put on hold for 15 minutes. When she came back on the line, I was given their address. When I asked about who would pay for shipping she said I would have to pay for the shipping back which is about $150 !! And thats if the hood didn't mysteriously get lost. No way was I going to put another $150 into a damaged hood from a shady outfit. Every person I talked to had a strong foreign accent and acted like they didn't quite understand what you were talking about and always gave the email excuse. I have also emailed their customer service dept. and shipping dept. with no replies at all. I think I will also file a complaint with the Better Business Bureau. The hood itself is salvageable with some pulling, hammering and bondo. So if you're handy with sheet metal or know someone that is, let me know and i can email pictures of it and discuss a price. I'm located in DE.
I just received my second hood today and would you believe that this one is dented also. Its bent right on the front corner. I think it can be fixed without too much trouble. I'm certainly not going to order another one. The delivery guy told me that all of the hood boxes that they ship from this outfit are banged up and damaged quite a bit. I'm wondering if they don't purposely drop these hoods so they sell a second replacement with the broken promise of a refund.
Having minor dents during shipping is unavoidable when buying body parts. It is a fact of life that every body shop deals with daily. While this company's packaging methods may be somewhat questionable, even when boxed perfectly, it's absolutely unavoidable as soon as the gorillas at UPS get their hands on it.
