White Performance, Skip White?

Any of you who know about this machine shop?
http://stores.ebay.com/whiteperforma...Q3amesstQQtZkm

Among other stuff they sell these low priced aluminium heads:
http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/SBC-C...mZ260072152965

Apparently they do some machine work on them before they assemble and sell them. Are they good?

I see they have very good feedback, but I would like to know more from other places than Ebay.

I have bought a lot of things from them. Those aren't the heads i got from him but i did get a set from him last year. I just call them to order and it is shipped immediately. They also helped me with questions after i bought them.

My friend and his dad have bought a ton of stuff from them. They are good guys and give killer deals on stuff. Like a complete 383 long block for like $2,200, that included a new four bolt main, complete rotating assm. and alum. heads. they will def get my business when it's time for me to buy. BTW what they have on ebay and their ebay store is only a fraction of what they really have.

Just watch what you buy from them. I took a block there once to have it craked checked long story short they said it was cracked and wanted to buy it.Who buys a cracked block??? Turned out it was just fine. The reason they have good e-bay prices is that nobody around here will deal with them anymore.They used to do a ton of work when the local race track was open.

You can get them heads directly from Patriot Performance for I think it was around $790-800, with better stuff than what Whites would have on them. $20 shipping. The $800 heads are non-ported, but the $1295 are ported. Go here for more specs on the heads. http://www.patriot-performance.com/w...05238&DID=1225 They havent put the $800 heads on their website yet so just call and ask about them. I think you can even get the 195cc,215cc, or 225cc for the same price.

I'm pretty sure Skip buys the bare casting from Patriot and assembles them at his shop to save money, do not quote because I could be wrong.

Re: White Performance, Skip White?

I have read on their Ebay site and talked to one of their guys that they do have the bare heads for sale as well as assembled heads. The bare heads come straight from Patriot and Whites says that they are the CNC machined heads that patriots made a bunch of but is changing to a cast model that will be virtually the same as the CNCed ones. They say there is only a small quantity of these CNCed ones left until the change over to the new generation. I am wondering if I should get a bare set from them in the hopes that the CNCed ones will be better than the newer version will be. I mean you can't beat under $500 for aluminum heads.
Heads=$500
Manley valves=$160
ARP rocker studs=$30
Comp Cams springs $130
Seals= $15
Total= $830-$850 for good parts.
I only wonder if there is something they do to the heads that makes spending the extra coin worth it??? Anybody know that one?

So is it worth getting them now???

Oh, I also want to know if my TPI accesories will bolt up to the heads? What about a heat cross over. Does it have one? Is that a problem with emmisions?

Re: White Performance, Skip White?

i am in the process of buying those heads from him. i say "process" because i ordered the heads on 3-27-07 off e-bay , the listing said 7 available. i would assume 7 available meant these heads were in stock and ready to ship. so i called this past monday to check my order's status and i was told "they were waiting on parts and they hadn't been assembled yet". ok i said, how long could it take to put together heads? just shoot me an e-mail when you're gonna ship 'em. "no problem" they said.

so i check my inbox today(4-5-07) and what does whiteperformance1 ask me? do you want 3/8 or 7/16 studs? are you kidding me? was the basic tone i took with my reply. i went on to explain i'd already given them this information twice, once on the phone and another time replying to their e-mail asking the same question!

Re: White Performance, Skip White?

i finally got my patriot heads from white performance last tuesday. the heads look great, but i only got a set of 14 rocker studs there were 3 shorter studs laying in the the bottom of the box. for $780 i expected a full set of studs. so i called and was assured they'd be shipped in the morning. still no studs. ugh. lucky for me/them i'm still waiting on some other do-dads to finish putting my motor together so the $2 studs aren't the only thing keeping me from finishing.

Re: White Performance, Skip White?

I bought one of their minstarters app 2 years ago, but haven't had the chance to try it until now.
The starter woks great and there are proper fitment between the teeths. But the fastening bolts they enclosed are too tiny and too weak. It is not grade 8 starter bolts, so I suppose they flex too much.

The flexplate grinds against the end of the starter screw during accelration and when I carry heavy loads uphills.

I have already added a shimm between the starter and the fastening block and that helped for a couple of weeks. Then the grinding started again in the same situations.

I sent them an e mail about this problem, but haven't received any answer.

Re: White Performance, Skip White?

I bought an electric fan a long time ago from them. I left them positive feedback because they shipped the item fast and it was exactly as described. But i sent numerous emails asking for them to leave me some feedback and they never responded. I just wanted some feedback! Through out the transaction I never got one email.

I've ordered quite a bit of stuff from them with no problem. In fact they are building me a set of the BBC pro comp heads with the CompCams Beehive springs.

I have bought tons of things from them, I have never had a problem from them. The Quality of the parts, and the price is usually unbeatable. Most of the Chromed Aluminum parts are as cheap as just polished Aluminum in other places.

Re: White Performance, Skip White?

Ordered a short aluminium water pump, it didn't even remotely look like ebay pic; bosses at mounting bolts were 3/8+ thicker and extended up over the edge of the heads which in my case extend slightly over; alternator brackets wouldn't line up, called Travis: "This is new (problem) product, we'll send the correct one" Correct one is old style cheapo which wouldn't fit over timing cover and only one heater outlet. Talked to Charlie who hadn't looked at "new" pumps and didn't even know they had the POS cheapos? He said send them back, he'd refund plus shipping. WELL, now I get some lady responding that I'm paying a restocking charge (where was that on the auction?) I ordered over $150 from them. All I wanted is what was pictured on the auction page. YMMV
