P.A.T.C. SPEED SHOP

bought a TV cable corrector spring from these guys online at their site. its a small piece like the size of a nickle, cost like 5 bucks, ok i can live with that.

shipping.....

i was charged 6.95 shipping and the tiny a$$ little spring was packaged in a 13x11x2 box!!! WTF talk about overkill look at this. there is absolutely no reason for this, i know they make smaller boxes, and handy little things called "envelopes" and the shipping is .39$ what a screw job.

What you have discovered is quite typical. Summit, Jegs and most places do the same and have minimum shipping cost.

LOL That's pretty amusing. Sucks about the price though. Like he said above, most places have minimum shipping costs.

I too have ordered from them. . I'm sympathetic about shipping costs. I recently ordered an LED, which cost $3.00, the shipping $5.00. The real gouger in this department, I think, is GMPartsDirect.

Could be worse. I paid $70 to get a SuperRam throttle bracket shipped. UPS Ground.

You're not the only one to think that James. I almost passed out when i saw the shipping charge. IIRC they charged me shipping on every little thing i bought, even when it's all in the same box

Re: P.A.T.C. SPEED SHOP

Where I work we have minimum shipping charges, and they are in line with a box approx. the same size as the one posted, as it is the smallest we use also. It actually does prevent a LOT of "lost shipments" by most carriers, we started that after losing quite a few $100 orders shipped out in small envelopes. It may be insured, but like where I work, it could possible be a HUGE pain to get the replacement part out. We make custom machined light fixtures, and setting up to make replacement parts for 1 thing is a gigantic pain. There are places whose shipping departments wont except envelopes unless from the USPS. In high traffic shipping departments guess what is the first package lost?
In response to The GM parts direct comments, you have to realize they sell the parts and nearly what it costs them, and just add 20% to the total to cover overhead, profit, AND shipping. I have a wholesale account at the local Chevy place and after our local 10% sales tax, it is STILL usually cheaper to get it from GMPD.
