'87 GTA REAR AERO WING?

I am searching for a fiberglass replacement for the rear spoiler on our '87 GTA. The original material does not hold up well in central Fl. I have seen a few different web sites offering fiberglass replacements. Would like to know which manufacturer offers best product for the money, how well they fit, how much effort is expected to make "straight" (car is black) and if different rear hatch struts are necessary due to weight of original spoiler. Any input would be helpful. Thanks, Mike

Re: '87 GTA REAR AERO WING?

Mike,
I bought a fiberglass replica from Hawks. It fit very well came with all new hardware. No complants from body shop. They were very helpfull and the product was of good quality. As for the hood struts. The fiberglass wing greatly reduced the weight of the hatch meaning the hatch struts that I thought need to be replace work perfectly now. Amazing what a difference it made.

I also have the aerowing that Hawk's sells. I love it. It fit perfect and required minimal prep work. You can see pics on my cardomain site.

Mine fit but the lines were not straight and it needed a lot of sanding and body work to get it to fit right. I would rate mine as poor quality.

Re: '87 GTA REAR AERO WING?

my first one was litterly an inch too narrow and after discussing things with Bruce we agreed to meet at the atlanta event and make a swap. got hte replacement out of my friends car and it measured up nice.

had a friend help me mount it similar to the factory manner and it looks great. my friend was very impressed with its fitment being he has been around body work his whole life.

and like jsnico said, mkes life on the struts easier. its nice to hit the hatch button and the hatch raises itself up vs having to race the hatch motor when ya hit the button.

AAAA++++, would buy again.
