Yea I grew up near Moline. That is were I went when I had money and good afford to get the best parts. The group there is pretty knowledgeable. They are mostly old school, not really up on the EFI and all that. The prices are kinda on the high side, but you get what you pay for. One of the few places left with customer service and guys who know what they are talking about. Also if you are looking for a top notch machining facility, they are the place to go. They have older, but good equipment, with guys that have been operating it for years.
I have dealt with them several times. Very good customer service.
They are not high priced on everything. The hot rod aluminium raidator I bought from them was the lowest priced I could find. And their prices on Edelbrock carbs are lower than Summit Racing's.
Ive delt with them a few times to get an oil pan and oil pump...They have EXCELLENT customer service and made sure I got my parts in 2 day and when I hd a problem with my pan they shipped me out a new one before I sent them to bad one back. Also when I thought I had a problem with my oil pump.(which I didnt) they again shipped me out another with no questions asked!...
The Car Shop put an ad on a local online classified section advertising that they were selling all their heads, blocks, machines and alot of other odds and ends. If I had some room around this dump, I would have gone down there and snapped up some goodies.
I don't know why they were selling all that stuff. My guess is that they were just 'cleaning house'. I also don't know why they put an ad in the online classifieds. You'd think that they could just tell a couple of people what they were going to do and by nightfall, a couple hundred people would know about it!
I can't link to the ad because it's expired. But, if it comes up again (it won't), I'll post it here.
The Car Shop was always THE place to take machine work and to talk to someone who knew their stuff. Always pricey but, you got what you paid for.

Reason: spelling
I have now placed an order for a HSR, fuel rails, a couple of gauges, a Megashifter and some more bits and pieces.
Their customer service is really great. I missed one thing on the order and emailed them, they came back to me within 30 minutes and solved the problem. Really good!
Tim, who has helped me, seems like a very nice guy.
