t&l engines good ?

I just followed a link from 86TA to their site and they seem to be a reliable company . Prices are very good for the parts they use.I was looking at a SB stroker and just wanted some more feedback from anyone who has dealt with them.
I searched and found a little info,I just want more.

Any responses are appreciated
Thanks Mike T

Re: t&l engines good ?

Mike,
T&L is building an engine for me right now. 86TA seems to be happy with the product. I can't speak for that yet (waiting on my engine). I've talked to them on the phone a couple of times and exchanged e-mails. As far as I can tell they're a reliable company.

If you're in a hurry...don't be. From what I gather they do about 8-10 engines/week and are currently running about 4 weeks from order to shipping on short blocks. I'm in week 2 of my wait.

Re: t&l engines good ?

We have a motor being built by them now too, should be done this week actually. They take a damn long time tho.

Its for my dads 84Z28

Forged 383...to much **** to list lol...puts out around 485ish HP.

Re: t&l engines good ?

you already know my opinion, im very impressed with them

But as jeffcj said, it takes a while from conception to delivery, mine ended up being almost 3 months due to some issues on their suppliers end, but worth the wait and they were always very helpful

3 months?!?

I certainly hope my short block doesn't take that long.. 1 month I can handle, but I plan on having this thing back together in 3 months.

Re: t&l engines good ?

my buddy got one of their 408 350 based motors... big 4inch stroke, 4 inch bore type motor

runs pretty good. alittle low on power than advertised but it really picked up well on a 150 shot. around 310whp on motor, 421 whp on 150 shot. advertised i believe at 495hp crank

I had a complete engine built, i would assume a shortblock would't take nearly as long.

Re: t&l engines good ?

thanks for all the replies
3 months isnt too bad to me,wouldnt want them to rush it.I have been looking around for 2 yrs while I wait for the funds and it is getting close .Looks like I will be going to Stanfield to place an order soon.
I am looking at the 408 510 hp 510 tq and will eventually hit it with a 100-150 shot.

thanks again guys Mike T

I would be seriously ragged if I paid for a 500hp crazy stroked beast and got a 375-390 hp engine. Thats way under expectations in my book. Literally 20% or more.

edit: I guess tune could have a lot to do with it.

Re: t&l engines good ?

It had dart pro 1 platinum heads. he said it was rated at 495 hp but i'm not sure

It had a cc306 cam in it. 230/244 .540/.576 i think it was. on a 112.

it was carbed and somewhat tuned but i think it had alot more in it. Air fuel ratio tho was pretty good so who knows?

Longtubes custom y pipe into a 3inch catback i think it was. SO the exhaust is hurting that car.

thats basically all i know. car went mid high 12's at 110 on motor... went 11's at 116-118 or something like that on the 150 shot.

It was a stalled auto 700r4, 2400 stall. I dont believe it was locked on the dyno run so there is another 20whp missing. 110 mph and his raceweight is like 330-340whp

Re: t&l engines good ?

Well that combo should surely put you close to 500hp. The 3 inch exhaust really shouldnt be hurting too much.

Should be close to the 11's........idk strange.

Did they just build the shortblock or was it the whole engine? They don't dyno each engine?
