I thought I would share a little info with you folks that don't already know.
Classic Industries is now selling original styled GTA wheels in black or gold.
They are priced at about $200 each, but about $700 for a complete set.
I don't remember who, but someone has been selling them for a few years now. Has anybody bought a set? I'm curious on the quality and how close they look to the stockies.
I bought two wheels some years back. They stopped selling them for a couple years beacuse of a tooling problem.Classic purchased the original tooling from GM.So the wheels are exact as GM used to make them. That said I havent seen these "newer" version & dont know if they are from the OEM tooling, but mine are identical to the factory GTA wheels.
I bought a set from Classic for $700 about 7 years ago. These were real GM rims (Black). I used them once (one day) they have been sitting in storage since. I want to sell them....$400+shipping. Premixyz@gmail.com
i just looked in my catalog, on page 616 199/each of 700 for the set, they look exactly the same...16*8, too bad they couldnt be bigger...i love the look of a white TA with black/gold wheels, but want bigger breaks...ugh
These are truly new wheels. I used them for about 15 minutes. They have been in storage ever since. I can pull them out and take a picture (this weekend). Please send me an email at premixyz@gmail.com I don’t plan on checking this site (at least not often). Shipping will be costy but no more or less than if you buy them from anyplace else. I do NOT know what the shipping charges would be. My guess would be in the $100 to $200 range. I do not want to trade for other rims, old beer bottles, used tampons or whatever else you may think that I need. I am selling these because I need some cash for my new project. Thanks for the five or six various offers that have been emailed to me but please…no more trade offers.
Thanks and have a GREAT day!
Paul

Reason: fixxed some spellin and grambers
Got the wheels from Premix about 10 days ago. Very nice set of wheels. Although the wheels are a reissue from Classic Industeries, they are identical to an OEM set that I already owned. Got them mounted on the T/A. Will post pic's as soon as time permits. Going to stay with the silver WS6 caps, even though they are not correct for the car. Looks great!
I'd like to see somebody do them in an 18", they would look great, as I find the 18" wheels seem to be the best size for the F Bodies.
I remember when those first 16" IROC wheels first hit the steret, they looked HUGE back in the day, but now they are looking kinda small compared to what's out there on the new cars.
For those who want an 18 inch wheel, the Snowflake 18's from YearOne look way cool. Not exactly a crosslaced wheel, but will still look good on any year Firebird. As for my application, it came with the crosslaced wheels during the end of the 1986 production year, and I am trying to keep her as stock as possible, so the 16's are fine for me. It would have been great to find a perfect set of crosslaced wheels without the dimples, like the 86's were, however these are close enough, and they were in my price range as well.
Got a new copy of the Firebird edition of the Classic Industries catalog about 2 weeks ago. Been reading it a little every day while on the toilet, and you know how it goes, you get done with business, before getting more than a few pages into the catalog. I know, TMI! So today, I started looking at it backwards, and there in the middle are the listings for new Crosslaced wheels in gold and in black. $699.00 a set. The advertizment stated "They're back." Couldn't find them on the website though. I am still very happy with the set I bought from Premix, but had I known there were brand new ones to be had for $700.00, I would have bought those instead. Good Luck!

Please try to post the pics dude. I want to see a more detailed look of it.
Just wondering if one could take the "rim" off of a set of GTA wheels then add say some 1/2" spacer material and then a 17" rim if that would work? You could polish the 1/2" spacer to make it look like part of the rim. Then of course paint and clear coat as necessary.
Wow,just stumbled upon this thread(I started)
looks like its been modified?
Anyway, glad to see its sparked some genuine PONTIAC EXCITEMENT! LOL!
Nice to see some folks actually picked up the paper copy and put it to good use.
Websites are sometimes behind in the times.(Go figure!)
I would expect the opposite in this technology driven world we live in today.lol!
When these first came out years ago I bought a set shipped for under 500.00 shipped. now I go to order them and they want a 125.00 just for shipping and handling(oversized?) I asked whats oversized about a 16x8 box.

125 for shipping isn't that unheard of these days.A 16x8 box would probably cost $30 to ship. Now,times that by 4 and you have $90. Hey,someone has to pay for the boxes and the employee labor right?
those wheels are about 65.00 to ship and I am sure they get a good discount.I just bought4 new slp zr1 hyper black wheels and the place only charged me 28.00 total shipping
They seem to be the same as classic was selling, not 100% sure tho.
They also just got in ( Wheels, **NEW**Camaro/Firebird 82-92 17x8 ZR1/SS Style Wheels, Made specifically for Third Gen Camaro and Firebird ) which requires no spacers or mods.
Just thought I'd let you guys know, someone is working on making larger diameter versions of the Pontiac GTA wheels. View this thread: http://www.turbobuick.com/forums/sho...onal-rims.html. Brian at Gbodyparts.com is working on them. There is no definite release date, it could be end of this year, could be one or two years away.
As far as custom widths and offset/backspacing changes, either Gbodyparts.com or True Wheel Design can do this for you.
Although the overall design of the GNX wheels matches the GTA/TA wheels, I believe the offsets are different (TA wheels have different offset in the front than in the back). Am I correct?

Correct. GNX wheels are the same JWC 16"x8" wheel as the Pontiac GTA wheel, except for the offset. The GNX had -15mm offset for the front, and -23mm for the rear, as opposed to the 0mm front offset and +16mm for the rear.
But in reference to my post above, Gbodyparts.com will most likely be making them in a front GTA offset. Can't say for sure though what he plans to do. The GNX offset wheel is not easy to market, and requires cutting of the rear inner wheel well lip to make it work (GNX had this done by ASC as well as adding fender flares) for G-bodies.
I've included a pic of GNX offset (on GTA wheels that were redone in that offset). By the way, love the site guys, lots of useful info and knowledgable people out there!

Will Gbody be making any 15x7 Knight Rider Rims aka Turbocast rims?

No, not that I am aware of. They specialize in G-bodies (Cutlass, Regal, Monte Carlo, etc.) and the reason they are putting forth all this effort into making the larger diam. GTA wheels is the popularity of it for buick guys giving their car the gnx look, and just the fact that both the f-body and g-body guys love this wheel and there is a large market for this wheel.
You can put me down for a set of GTA 17 or 18 inch wheels. Preferably 17. Between the different groups I don't think you will have any trouble selling 125 sets.

Those rims in the pic on your s/e look like turbo finned wheels NOT turbo cast.
*Supposedly the quality of the CI's GTA rims have gone to crap! Water marks under the clear coat on most of the rims. But other members have been able to CI's warhouse and go through and hand pick a set of (near perfect) rims. You'll just have too open up 20+ boxes. If you call/order online, you will get whatever they send you......water makes and all!!!
*Info posted by other members on another thread!!!!
And yet....Those of us with good gold & polish on our OEM wheels, can't sell them. "CI makes them now, why would I buy old/ used wheels?" Maybe because our OEM ones aren't screwed up like the CI ones?
