Re: 82-92 CHEVY CAMARO CRYSTAL Headlights w/Adapter (Ebay seller 2004momo)
I bought a kit off of ebay for just the low beams without the adaptors, and well it sucked at first. If you hook them up and just expect them to work, don't. The wrong wiring to the wrong connectors means that your highs will be on all the time because the new H4 connection mated to the old sealed beam connection without adaptor loops the whole lighting system. I looked up the wiring diagram on here actually and just switched the wires to the proper location in the harness connector, and bam, my headlight work the way they were supposed to. H4 upgraded lights were worth the extra work for me, but if I had done a little more research then I would've spent a little more and gotten myself the one with the adaptors.

Just do a custom harness with relays. I believe there's a tech article on the main page of TGO for that.

Someone asked for a pic of silverstars, this pic should kind of give you an idea.
The black car has True 8000k HID's
The blue car has silverstars
The other car is stock
Im debating these headlights from silverstars or getting HID's

I ordered a set as well for my 86 Camaro, I had to trim the headlight bucket as well, I used the adapters, but when the low beams are on the highbeam lights are receiving a little power, you can see the bulbs light a little, really not enough to produce much light. Did anyone else experience this?

Just got mine last week. I bit more $ to get them shipped to Canada, but they got here in under a week, and look fantastic. Managed to avoid hitting a moose, now that I can see more than 40 ft in front at night.

have u had any problems with the lights flickering or anything?

Re: 82-92 CHEVY CAMARO CRYSTAL Headlights w/Adapter (Ebay seller 2004momo)
No problems so far, and not expecting any, though I did run a strip of electrical tape around the plug connection, just to be on the safe side. Well worth the investment, considering what hitting a 2000+ pound moose at 60 miles an hour can do to any car, never mind your body.

i have the sealed beam silverstars and they make a night and day difference over stock lights. a very good investment for $40. of course, true hid or xenon beats silverstars..but they go for $200-400 a set. so silverstars are a great solution. i do plan on doing true hid down the road when the budget allows for it.

I'll be getting me a set of those H4 conversions. I've seen them in person and they are fantastic. The light amout is easily 200% better.

FWIW I got the H4 conversion housings, and some H4 silverstars. I'm not sure if my housings sucked, or what, but they were whiter, but not as bright as my stock sealed beams on low beam. On high beam. Wow. Just. Wow. That was a scary high beam out of that silverstar.
Oh, and before anyone interjects with the "Well, you were using stock wiring, and that's why it wasn't brighter." No, I was running them straight off of the battery with the car running, while my other low beam was running off of the factory wiring.

Re: 82-92 CHEVY CAMARO CRYSTAL Headlights w/Adapter (Ebay seller 2004momo)
For those who had flickering problems and the "dim" high beam even when the low beams are on: The dim High beam means you don't have the pins configured correctly. If the adapters did not correct this, you may need to do a search and find the correct pin set up. There are several people who have posted information on this.
Flickering is caused because you are drawing too much power on the circuit. The BEST solution to this is to get the APC or Painless H4 adapter kit that draws directly from the battery and includes breakers inline to protect your wiring and headlamp switch. You can also do this yourself if you don't mind doing electrical. There is a good tech article here on TGO on how to build your own. This will also brighten your standard lights even if you don't convert to H4. H4 bulbs draw more current than your regular bulbs, so this is a good saftey feature. I know some guys have done it without and been okay, but chances are with 20+ year old wiring, you have a high probability of at minimum burning up your headlamp switch. Painless' system looks like a better quality setup to me. I got the APC because Painless didn't have one yet, and had to upgrade it a bit--heftier wiring on one connection and a maxi fuse for extra insurance, but have had no problems since installation.
One other note--the housings are all different dependent on who made them. My original housings required me to open up the buckets to fit. The replacement APC housings went in no problem, and would have likely fit without modifying the buckets, so it just depends on that particular aspect. Also, different manfacturers have differing quality on beam pattern. My originals seemed brighter, but the dispersion pattern was TERRIBLE. APC's are better, but not perfect. If you are looking for substance over style (you actually want to see better at night), Hella lamps (housings) are arguably the best by far, based on my research. Hope that helps.

Great write up! Can you get me one of the links for the painless wiring upgrade? I was thinking about doing this as well, but I cant seem to find one for our cars.

Heres the painless wiring harness...http://www.autotoys.com/x/product.php?productid=4194
I also had problems with the lights working right. I had to re-do a few pins in the adapters they provided. It looks like now its going to work.

Re: 82-92 CHEVY CAMARO CRYSTAL Headlights w/Adapter (Ebay seller 2004momo)
I go back to my previous statement, and clarify it.
I got the Neolite housings (which I guess are from some company in India) and I can't tell if the light pattern sucks, or what, and I also got Sylvania Silverstar H4's. From what I've been reading, if you order some Osram Silverstars from a European company they're brighter and last longer.
Quick question for anyone who might answer, I understand the "Crystal" headlights. They're just clear with a smooth reflector, the "Diamond" are clear with a wicked patterned reflector, and the "Projector"s have what looks like a magnifying glass in the middle? And all can come with Halo/Angel Eye/Driving Lights. Are the differences between all of these purely cosmetic, or do they equate to distance, brightness, etc. etc.

UPDATE: i switched the wires so the lights in the middle are the low beams. i am much more pleased with the dispersion..because less light is blocked by the headlght buckets. sorry forgot to take more pics
when in high beam mode it works just as great as normal

Have any of you guys had the problem that when you plug the new lights, it draws power from the High Beams? I had to disconect my high beams to get the most power out of the other ones, however the "High Beam light" stays on in my dashboard, just not as bright as normally when high beams are on.
But the lights are Real Bright. I had the H4's and swapped them for the Sylvania Silver Stars Ultra... Looks Just like the HID's. H4's were too blue... It's true the only complain is the Aim of the lights that is too high, Any Tips on how to fix the Power Supply???

I actually Replaced the H4's With Sylvania Silver Star Ultra 9003's They give you a much brighter Light.
