Summit Racing

Thought I would post up a review for them.
They seem like a great company, with a nice way of viewing items they have for sale. But, when it comes to shipping me a part that FITS, they are not so good.
I bought disk brakes from them on the phone for the front, and they shipped me rears. Ok, whatever.
Next shipment is their Summit rotor and pad combo. We go to put them on and the Pads do not slide over the rotor when placed in the caliper. I return the pads and use some Wagner's. All this was months ago.

I ordered a Hedman y-pipe, which was advertised at 2.5 inch collector. We try to put it on and it's a 3 inch. This performance shop got the same one for us and it's also 2.5. Jegs lists them at the same size, but I just said screw it and went true duals...so in a way I am actually happy. This was last month.

They do have an AWESOME selection of parts, so I will most likely use them again. Their refunds come on-time, too.

Re: Summit Racing

Is it possible you have the part numbers mixed up between the two?

I have purchased a few things from summit before (steering wheel and mountuing kit, megashifter) and had pretty good luck with them.

Did they help you out any with the mistakes?

I am sorry to hear of your misfortune, even the best companies have bad days I guess, I know that I have ordered about a billion times through summit and have always been impressed, especially with there customer service.

Re: Summit Racing

I never had a problem with orders that I actually look up and buy myself through their site except for one incident. It was a Hypertech 160* tstat for my LT1 and it was the wrong part. I called them, sent it back and they sent me the correct one.

Nothing but good things TBH. Good luck in the future.

Re: Summit Racing

I have been using Summit for years for my Silverado. I never had a problem before until a couple months ago they sent me the wrong ignition coils. As far as I see it was one little mess up out of the 50+ times i've ordered from them. I forgive them. I'm still gonna use them for my 84 T/A.

ive ordered tons of stuff through them never a complaint. just the other week i ordered a catback for my yukon throught them well i saw it was on backorder so i called them and let them know that i have a walker (dynomax)facility about 10miles from me so instead of the extra wait time they contacted walker and are going to get them to ship my exhaust straight to me instead of to them then back to me. great customer service A+++

Re: Summit Racing

not to happy with summit at the moment,

they have had my wheels in since 3/26, along with tires they are supposed to be mounting for me at $15 a pop mount balance fee.. not to pricey and saves me having to drag it all to a shop

i have been told they will ship today..... since tuesday, and just sat on hold for 15 mins, to find out that they can't get a hold of anyone in the warehouse to see if the machine is still working.... not sure what that meant exactly, but WTF if its broke then tell the customer

they are going to send someone to the warehouse to find out whats up, and call me back.

i hope they resolve this rapidly..... given the state of the economy now is NOT the time to crap on a single customer no matter how many you have

Re: Summit Racing

as a follow up within an hour of that phone call, my order status changed to shipped, and i now have tracking numbers, i did get a phone call from an 800# but was unable to answer at the time and no message was left,

normally summit, has been great and this time they have fixed the problem but it took 3-4 phone calls and an email to do so. i know im not the only customer, and honestly what irked me is being told repeatedly all week , "yep they ship today", and it not happening, moreso than wainting for them

just tell me the truth, and make it come true the first time. and im happy

I bought KYB struts and shocks from them and when one of the struts failed, I sent it back UPS on my own dime. They sent me a refund check for the UPS shipping I paid for without me asking, I was totally surprised.

Top notch company!

I've ordered roughly $3000 in parts from summit, including a hood...

Everything gets in to my house in 2-3 days, and when i had problems with goodmark pushing my hood ship date back further and further i called them up and they had no problem switching it to a fiberglass hood from Harwood and the hood was at my house 4 days later.

Summit racing gets two from me.

Anyone else get their new summit catalog this month and see the free 20 summit bucks thing on the back. I don't know if there is a catch or not but it looks like you just put in the 2 codes beside of it and you get 20 bucks... Anyone know the deal with it?

I just made my first order with them. Fastest shipping ever. I've seen three days before, but never two days like this. With standard shipping, I made the order around 5pm wednesday, and had the parts this morning (friday). Only like two states away though. But they did hand it to UPS the same day.

I love Summit. I've only bought a dipstick tube from them so far, but I love the fact that me being in northeastern IN, if I order a part at night or before 8am, I get it THAT day. Fantastic. They also sent me a promo code for $20 off my next purchase of $100 or more.

Plan on buying all new steering linkage from them here in a couple of weeks.

I, too, have ordered untold bazillion dollars worth of parts from Summit.

The only time I didn't get exactly what I ordered was when I ordered a set of Scat rods. I wanted the 25700-P pressed-fit rods and got the 25700 (without the "P") and got the bushed rods for floating pins. No real biggie since my KB pistons can be used either way so I'll just hang the pistons the floating rods style.

Would I use them again? I have ordered a bunch more from them since then!

Re: Summit Racing

Summit Racing is awesome. I use to live about 20 minutes from the Tallmedge, Ohio location. If you are anywhere near the Akron, Ohio area, you got to go to Summit Racing and see their showroom, extremely impressive!!!!

Concerning their service: When you deal with thousands of customers each day, I think its likely that a mistake will be made. However, like Doug, I have ordered thousands of dollars of parts from them and had only one issue. That was a broken valve spring (maybe 15 years ago). I took back the whole set, and they replace them with another brand at no charge to me. I went in there and complaint nicely, and they took care of me immediately.

i've used jegs, and i've used summit, and i have to say summit all the way. fast shipping, and really good customer service. they have always answered my questions, and worked with me if i screwed up and order a wrong part. plus there web site is so much better than jegs. i only wish they could sent out tax deduction forms............i mean they pretty much get my pay checks, spent over ten k last year with them easily, would love to have that as a write off.

Re: Summit Racing

I, too, have spent thousands of dollars with Summit. Great service. The only complaint I have is that when I ordered a crate engine from them a couple of years ago I paid the extra charge for shipping to my door. That did not happen, I got a call at work from a truck driver who demanded that I come up with a business with a fork lift to unload the engine quick or he was going to take the engine back to the terminal 100 miles away and I would have to go get it. Probably not Summit's fault, but be carefull to clarify shipping on large items if you are paying a premium price for it. And I have used them since, no other problems. randy

Re: Summit Racing

Best customer service and fastest shipping I've seen. Very well maintained website and good technical support, they really know what they're selling. They're the only guys offering USPS Express mail and being in Romania and all, UPS or FedEx generally cost more than the worth of items, a complete ripoff. I always receive the shipment in 4-5 days (knowing the people in customs office helps a little too ) Purchased around 5000 worth of stuff, including shipping and will order much more. Their prices and quality for even common things like a torque wrench, bolt kits, hand tools or specialty tools etc. beat the prices here in Romania, even with the shipping and customs costs.

Can.

Re: Summit Racing

I have spent way too much money at Summit with my boats, cars and trucks. Considerably over $5,000 in the last 10 or so years and I cannot remember one single problem with Summit. They've been very good to me and I've remained very loyal to them.

Re: Summit Racing

well look slike my parts are going to take 3 days to get here lol. their site is WAY better then jegs. the only thing jegs has em beat on is carb prices. jegs had the carb i was looking at for $269 and summit had it for $370 ish. so my whole engine is being bought from summit except for the carb lol.

also 11.95 handling on orders over $100 is awesome. getting like 20 items at about $1800 and only paying $12!!!

Re: Summit Racing

I have never had an issue with summit, just about the best company ever. Shipping is next day or 2nd day at latest. I have had 3 orders from them already this year...just got some headers in yesterday.
