i bought aftermarket t-top weatherstrip but didn't keep water out of the car so i want to buy new GM weatherstrip. GM are more expensive but there are better than aftermarket.
can someone tell me where I can buy GM weatherstrip ?
I bought my GM 8 piece t-top weatherstrip kit from Hawks. I believe it was $500. I haven't installed it yet since my car is in the shop getting painted now, but it better work well for that price!

my kit from Hawks was clearly labeled as a GM made product also. I think they sell an aftermarket manufacturer's kit for $250

Some sites may need to update the web stores.. as the GM kit that was used.. # 10164133 has been discontinued by GM for some time now.. it was the BEST kit.. without a doubt..
If some of the resellers have some NOS.. BUY IT.. The 8 piece GM # 10164133 on the box and the seals are Canadian and labeled that way.. Go the extra and buy that kit.. you will not regret it. GM has disc'd parts of the kits contents.. the actual Top's side seals or tracks.. can't remember which .. but the main seals # 10198209 & 10198208 are still available .. so if Hawkes has some left.. that is a great price.
I used another 8 piece it on the market and its not noticed till you go to put them on .. but the actual seals around the top were molded too small.
I would recommend Hawks thirdgen if you're looking for the 8 piece kit. I bought all of the weatherstripping new from a dealership a few years ago except for the roofrail pieces. I just recently ordered those pieces from GMPartsDirect.com.
i bought my weather strip from softseal also pretty expensive but so far it has been very good. they have a lifetime garantee. know lots of people who have also used it and no probablem
Hey, Ive seen some of these kits that say "Not for aftermarket T-Tops" Is there a way to determine if the car is was an aftermarket T-Top install?
im assuming they are talking about the cars and concept kits. the c&c kits are shorter than the GM kit. look at the area on the roof between the front glass and the T top, this area on a c&c kit will be wider than the GM top.

Does anyone have experience installing the weatherstripping? Did you use weatherstripping adhesive/sealer in all the channels? Maybe someone can point me in the right direction as far as finding instructions? Don't want have to do this twice.

Well from my experience installing weather stripping, i put it all in the car, take it to the car wash. If you have leaks, dry off the rails and the weather stripping and i personally use 3M Super Weather Stripping Adhesive to seal it all up. I figure if it can stand water under high pressure shooting on your car, it can handle the rain at any speed you drive... And as far as using adhesive, i use a small flat bladed screwdriver to put the adhesive in the rail in the weather stripping itself to insure it gets all the way down and i dont go overboard and get that goop all over everything. After that adhesive is on, its pretty much staying there without a doubt... But thats my
I wrote a nice article on it that I sent to Dirk eons ago...but he was on his way out and it never got published. I'll see if I can dig it up...I think its on my old computer. The online version died when my old website went offline.
