Re: blueprint engines aka marshall engines

Same issue with another engine I bought from them for my Nissan. Avoid business with Marshall engines at all cost. Put a Ford engine in there before you put a Marshall "remanufactured" engine.

Yeah Marshal had a bad name. As did spartan. I have had good luck with Vege engines so far. So they are saying you didnt change all the neccesary parts or you hot rodded it or what?

I don't think it'll matter. Usually with these types of posts there are two sides to the story. Happens a lot with angry customers if something doesn't go the way they want it. I've heard of some very good stuff from Blueprint, not that I'd buy one.

Re: blueprint engines aka marshall engines

I was lucky and got a refound from rockauto. Though I order around 500-2000$ parts from them every month, that may helped too.

Good I disassembled and rebuild that piece of garbage rather then installing it as it came. Only part I did keep after milling the deck is the block.

Re: blueprint engines aka marshall engines

I have Blueprint's 383 Vortec crate engine that was installed in March 2009. It currently has almost 3000 miles on it and I have yet to experience any problems with the motor. I am very pleased with the motor that i have. I have called their technical support for some answers to some questions that i had during the install and some general questions about the motor that i wanted clarified. The only issue i had with them was a couple times i had to wait on them to call me back. They always returned my phone call the same business day however. The 2 techs that i have talked to were very helpful and knowledgeable.

Summit and Jegs both sell Blueprint engines and have for several years. If there was more just just a handful of problems with these motors I am pretty sure they would not sell them anymore.

In anything that is produced, there will always be some failure rate. Its just the nature of the beast.

3000 miles wouldn't be enough mileage for me to snap to a Good/Bad decision. But who knows it could be the cores they are using.

Re: blueprint engines aka marshall engines

Jegs is a sh!tty outfit, we had a tool who worked there hold our international order in her office and then went on a vacation for a couple of weeks. Called the manager and told him to bust down her door to get the crap, demanded to have it shipped double quick time. All we got was lies. Never ordered there again, went back to summit. They are great every time and happily take our business. Basically w/ Jegs...you order in Feb and hope to get it before Sep...and customer service is crap.

There was a guy on CF who bought one of those blueprint/marshall engines and he killed it after running for minutes. Have to admit, he adjusted the timing by ear so he probably broke it himself. After dozens of pages w/ bad press he got a freebee new one.

Re: blueprint engines aka marshall engines

no oil pressure? They didn't leave out the hidden plug did they? It's practically impossible to register no oil pressure if the pump is working (drivehsaft) and the bypass isn't stuck open.

Re: blueprint engines aka marshall engines

i've bought a ton of parts at jegs when building my 355 and dirt car.... never a problem... one time manley put the wrong valves in the box took em back to jegs they made it right and discounted the product to make up for the drive ... plus they had manley rep call me and they gave me an addition compensation. summits good too tho

Re: blueprint engines aka marshall engines

Id be willing to bet that the pickup fell out of the pump. Ive had that happen and it did the same thing your talking about press in pick ups really need to be tack welded to the pump.

Re: blueprint engines aka marshall engines

try telling them you are going to take them to small claims court get all your paperwork together and see if a lawyer will look at the case. that or send them a certified letter that you are going to do so. That might get them to resolve the issue.

Re: blueprint engines aka marshall engines

hey guys im new to the forum, looks like a cool place with lots of great knowledge provided by fellow f body lovers. i cant help but notice this thread probably unrelated but at my work we went through HELL with spartan engines on a dodge minivan v6. first engine we installed lifter bores wernt correct so they exchanged it for another that as soon as it started up had rod knock from hell, swapped it out for another engine. ( mind you this is a subframe drop job so its pretty labor intense. the extra r and r time that they refused to pay us for) van ran great. 3 months later customer came back with engine smoking like a diesel and sounding like it was about to toss something through the oil pan. boss man called and threatened to sue and finally they refunded and agreed to pay for extra r and r labor. threw a jasper in that bad boy and never looked back been over a year. customer still comes in for every service and its still running like a champ. after seing that id never own a spartan engine
